New Two-Way Communication

The district will launch the final phase, the two-way communications known as Rooms, on April 27. Rooms will allow teachers to communicate via messaging with their students and their parents in their language of choice and is already built right into the district app and the website.

The app now serves as a central hub for messages, events, lunch menus, and more. Campus teams will continue managing calls, texts, and emails as before. Rooms also gives parents one place for communication across multiple schools, with automatic message notifications and built-in safety features.

This is about more than convenience. It’s about giving families a consistent, reliable experience—every time they hear from us. To learn more about the key features of Rooms, click here.

Getting Started:

  1. Log into Rooms via the Dallas ISD Portal (SSO).

  2. Complete the orientation checklist (desktop/laptop required).

  3. Send an introductory message to families.

  4. Optionally download the Apptegy Staff app for mobile use.

💻 END-OF-YEAR TECHNOLOGY UPDATES

  • Student Devices & Chromebooks: To ensure all devices are properly collected for summer maintenance, student devices must remain on campus now that our main STAAR testing windows are wrapping up. For the last two weeks of school, any students who still need a device for assignments should use a shared campus device.
  • Classroom Display Prep (DUE FRIDAY, MAY 8): All classroom digital displays (Promethean/Newline boards) will undergo a mandatory district software update on May 8. Before you leave for the summer, please prepare your displays by:
    • Unplugging all cords from the wall or your laptop and wrapping them securely to the back of the cart.
    • Ensuring the display screen is facing away from windows and out of direct sunlight.
    • Clearly labeling all your remotes and pens so they stay with your specific board.

  • Classroom Call Buttons: Ensure your call button remains visible and accessible at all times (not covered by furniture/paper). Please teach students not to press it.
  • Bond Renovation Check-In: Please submit the Classroom Check-In form to report any construction items or touch-ups still needed in your space.
  • Courtyard & Campus Murals: We received a grant to enhance our courtyard and install new campus murals! If you are interested in helping plan or design these spaces with our visiting artist, please let Mr. Carter know.

INSTRUCTION INSTRUCTION

Maximizing Every Minute

As we move deeper into this stretch of review and preparation, a reminder: the most impactful instruction keeps students at the center.

Review should prioritize intentional student practice—where students are doing the thinking, writing, and problem-solving, not just watching or listening. This means creating space for multiple at-bats on high-leverage TEKS, paired with immediate, meaningful feedback.

As you circulate, focus on identifying patterns in student work, naming what students are doing well, and addressing misconceptions in ways that lift the entire class.

Time is one of our most valuable resources right now—how we use each instructional minute matters.

  • Are students engaged in productive struggle?

  • Are they applying their thinking, receiving feedback, and trying again?

Strong review isn’t about doing more—it’s about being more intentional: in what we prioritize, how we respond to student thinking, and how we ensure every student has access to meaningful practice.

The first staff member to text/email Carter with code word: Minute will receive one free lunch meal coupon to cash in on a day of their choosing.

  • Operation Math Magic: Continue pushing fact fluency in Grades 1-3 this week! Keep tracking progress on your classroom medallions and encourage students to hit their targets.

Attendance & Work Hours

As we return from Spring Break, we will be closely monitoring attendance and work hours procedures. Please ensure absences are entered in Frontline in advance and sub plans are updated.
