Hesch Family Scholarship at DeSales Catholic School

The Hesch Family scholarship at DeSales Catholic School was established by the family of Richard “Dick” Kenneth Hesch in 2017. Mr. Hesch was a graduate of DeSales High School Class of 1956 and a faithful member of All Saints Parish.

This scholarship was designed to recognize the sacrifice and commitment of the families who choose Catholic education for their children. A scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic-year will be awarded to a deserving DeSales Catholic School student who represents our school’s mission and goals. The scholarship winner should live out the values taught by St. Francis de Sales of love, compassion, mercy, sacrifice and justice in all they do.

To be eligible for consideration the applicants must:

· Be a current parishioner at All Saints Parish in Lockport, NY

· Be enrolled as a student in Kindergarten through Grade 8 at DeSales for the 2021– 2022 school year

· Complete and submit the attached Hesch Family Scholarship Application and return it to DeSales by June 18th, 2021.

· Have financial need

We are so proud of how hard our students have worked this year! In an effort to continue learning throughout the summer DeSales has purchased Summer Bridge Books for registered students entering Kindergarten through 4th grade. We encourage students to use them daily throughout the summer.

Look for these books in your child's backpack before the end of the school-year.

Last year Mrs. Badura secured NEED Project Conservation Kits for each of our families. These kits are from National Fuel and contain a faucet aerator, hot water gauge and showerhead.

These kits will go home with the YOUNGEST student in each family. If you have any questions or would like an extra kit, please message Mrs. Knuutila at knuutilak@desalescatholicschool.org.

Students in going into grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 should prepare for the 2021-2022 school-year with the Summer Reading List linked below:

5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Summer Reading List

Mrs. Lewis will be offering a STREAM and Extra Support Grades 1-5 summer program here at DeSales.

Students will work through summer work books (provided by DeSales at the end of the school year) and participate in STREAM activities. Students will spend 40 minutes on workbooks or other academic related activities which will be followed with 20 minute STREAM activity. This will be done in classroom 70 at DeSales.

Welcome to the 2021 VIRTUAL Race for Fitness sponsored by Niagara County Produce and NetPlus Allilance. The Annual Race for Fitness is a DeSales tradition in memory of Tim Chesko. Tim was an avid runner and father of 3 DeSales Alumni. Given what is going on in the world, we cannot be together to celebrate this event. However, we can still continue the tradition of celebrating fitness and honor Tim Chesko VIRTUALLY.

Race for Fitness Dates: June 5th through 12th

We recognize that this is a hard time for many people - so it is important to note this event is not a fundraiser, it is a FUN-raiser. There is no fee to participate.

How do we participate? We are challenging you to run or walk following safe social distancing rules. So, whether you run on a treadmill, jog around the neighborhood or walk around the block - how you RACE is up to you! Will you run your first 5k? Will you take your children for a bike ride? Share your RACE with our community -send us your pictures no later than June 12th - we want to see how you chose to RACE! We will be sharing your pictures on our social media to encourage and challenge others to get out there and RUN! (Pictures to knuutilak@desalescatholicschool.org).

However you chose to RACE this year, we hope you will find joy in this Virtual Fitness Challenge!

Hello everyone! The HSA is happy to announce that we will be holding our Field Days again this year! It has been a very long year and half and we are so thankful to be able to give our students a little bit of normal!!!! Field Days will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd during school hours and will include all students Grades 1-8. Pre-Schoolers and Kindergartners will already be out of school for the summer! We will need quite a few volunteers to make this happen. If you can help, please sign up below.

All Saints Parish is now offering online registration for 2021-2022.

1st Grade through 6th Grade will meet on Saturday mornings and 7th Grade through Confirmation will meet on Wednesday evenings.

Ice Bumper Cars

The Cornerstone Arena has now added public ice bumper cars on select Saturdays. The sessions are at 2pm, 2:15pm, 2:30pm and 2:45pm. $7 f or 10 minute sessions. Please click here to pre-register. Spots are limited!
