Consider Chromebook Care for 2025-2026 Consider Chromebook Care for 2025-2026

Damage to district-issued Chromebooks kept our Technology Team busy during the 2024-2025 school year:

  • They made 597 repairs across the district
  • Decommissioned 80 devices for various reasons, including 21 due to student damage.
  • Issued 280 fines, with about a third of them to cover lost cords and to recoup the lost devices when students leave the district.

Students are responsible for loss and damage to their Chromebook, so families must pay for cracked or broken screens, spills, broken keys and more. There is a protection play to help with that, but enrollment is required by Sept. 30. The annual cost is $15 for one device and $30 for two of more devices.

Learn more by reading the Student & Parent Handbook. Enroll by clicking the button below.

Student Accident Insurance

Supplementary student insurance available Supplementary student insurance available

Because medical costs can be expensive, Red Wing Public Schools provides families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance through Student Assurance Services Inc. This is strictly voluntary.

This supplemental policy would assist with your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. deductible) should your student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. Also, if you do not have any insurance on your student, this would be primarily for accidental injuries. There is a variety of coverage options, and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.

Please review the short video link above as well as the forms linked below regarding student accident insurance. if you have any questions about this coverage, please contact Student Assurance Services directly at 800-328-2739.

United Way helps to meet supply demand United Way helps to meet supply demand

United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha & Pierce Counties will again hold a school supply event for students. We'll see you at the Elks!

Apply now for Educational Benefits Apply now for Educational Benefits

Complete your application now or at a school open house

District leaders highly recommend that all families complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Although an application is no longer required to receive one breakfast and one lunch free of charge every school day, completing the paperwork still benefits qualifying families and the district. Your help in completing these forms will make a big difference. The application form is available online through SchoolCafe in English and Spanish.

Find something you love and do it Find something you love and do it

RWHS featured at Career Day

Shanaya Wells, president of the Native American Student Association (NASA), and Red Wing High School Principal Joshua Fuchs delivered the keynote addresses at Prairie Island Indian Community's second annual Career Day on Tuesday, Aug. 12. They spoke about the importance of education, connections and preparing future leaders.

"We can build our confidence and resilience by exploring new things," Mr. Fuchs said. "Get out there. Get out into the community. Make sure you explore things you like. Find out things you don't like." He added, "I can assure you that if you find a career that you love, it will not be hard to go to work every single day."

Shanaya detailed some of the activities NASA offered at the high school last year. They haven't done it alone. "We have these amazing people who always have our backs," Shanaya said, listing off family, school administrators and Prairie Island school liaisons -- who will double in number for the 2025-2026 school year.

"I'm just really thankful for this community, for the things they do for us young ones, so we can shoot to have the careers we want and make our dreams come true."
