Ethan Kreger's Successful Senior Cross Country Season Ethan Kreger's Successful Senior Cross Country Season

Ethan Kreger is having an outstanding Senior season. Before the start of our season, Ethan was named one of our team captains as a result of his hard work, leadership, and his ability to put the team's needs before his own. His individual performances this season have been extremely impressive. He took 7th place at Lamplighter, 1st at Algonac, 5th at Midseason, 3rd at Marysville Invite, 3rd at MAC Red Championships, and 38th at Portage with an impressive time and a new lifetime PR of 16:35.7! TEC Welding Students Attend Ford Accelerate Conference TEC Welding Students Attend Ford Accelerate Conference

MARYSVILLE — Three welding students from the St. Clair County Technical Education Center (TEC)

attended Ford’s ACCELERATE: The Essential Economy Conference at Michigan Central in Detroit on

September 30. TEC was one of only three schools invited to participate in the event, which drew leaders from business, government, and education to discuss how to meet the country’s growing demand for skilled workers in manufacturing, construction, energy, transportation, and other vital industries. Welding students Rori Cowhy, Yale High School graduate; Brayden Fontenot, Port Huron High School; and Allie Stamplis, St. Clair High School graduate, represented TEC and their home schools along with welding instructor Becca Robertson and TEC Principal and CTE Director Lesley Murphy. The students showcased original welding sculptures, demonstrated an interactive welding simulator, and talked with conference attendees about the skills they are developing through career and technical education. “Being invited to ACCELERATE gave Rori, Allie, and Brayden an opportunity to show how career and technical education helps students build a future in the skilled trades,” Murphy said. “With one in the workforce, one in college, and one currently attending TEC, they represented the different paths our students can take. Each spoke with confidence and pride about their skills and experiences, bringing a personal perspective to the conversation about why the skilled trades matter.”

Comedian and actor Nate Bargatze hosted this year’s conference, and the students had a chance to meet him. Bargatze is the new face of Ford’s “Real Parts. Real Pros. Real Easy” campaign, which highlights the skilled professionals who service and maintain Ford vehicles.

Weights Students use VBT System to Maximize Workouts Weights Students use VBT System to Maximize Workouts

Students in Into Weights. Use our VBT system and tablets to get instant feedback on each rep that they do, allowing them to get the most out of each workout. For our core lifts, they are given a bar speed range that they need to stay in. This allows us to adjust the weight they are using accordingly to maximize the time we have in the weight room. 2 days a week, we work on speed and agility training. Students are using our laser Dashr timing system to run Flying 10s. We are working on getting to top speed as soon as possible in a short 10-yard distance. We like to end our agility training sessions with some type of game/ compitition. The game this week they had to pass a cone back and forth, and if the color of the cone they had was called, they then needed to go and tag the other person.

St. Clair High School 10th Grade Manufacturing Day St. Clair High School 10th Grade Manufacturing Day

Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. As county educators, one of our goals is to expose students to as many career and college opportunities as possible during their high school careers. Additionally, we want manufacturers to inform students what education and skills they will need for their wide range of jobs. On their visit to a local manufacturer, students will learn about diverse career and college opportunities in the industry:

  • Manufacturing is St. Clair County’s largest employment industry, employing approximately 15,300 residents in 2025.

  • According to 2025 economic data, Manufacturing is Michigan’s largest industry by economic output, particularly automotive manufacturing: over 580,000 workers across 12,000+ companies, generating approximately $114 billion annually and accounting for 13% of the state’s jobs.

  • Manufacturing offers careers in skilled trades, engineering, robotics, technology, production, design, and management.

  • 20,400 machinist openings and 19,000 industrial machinery mechanic openings are anticipated over the next decade.

  • Engineers will be in high demand over the next 10 years - civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineers all rank on Michigan’s Hot 50 high-wage, high-demand careers list.

St. Clair High School 10th grade students were given the opportunity to visit SABA North America and Motherson. The students were able to see how it looks in a modern manufacturing facility and explore the variety of jobs the companies employ.

Biology Heart Dissection Biology Heart Dissection

Students in Mr. VanSice, Mr. Sharrow, and Mr. McNabb’s Biology classes explored the human body’s cardiovascular system through a hands-on heart dissection. Although some students initially felt uneasy about handling the hearts, they quickly became engaged in the activity. By the end of the lesson, students were confidently examining, handling, and labeling the different parts of the heart. Through this experience, they gained a better understanding of heart anatomy and the important role each part plays in circulation. Students learned how the heart pumps blood to the lungs to receive oxygen before sending it throughout the rest of the body.

Anatomy and Physiology Autopsy Activity Anatomy and Physiology Autopsy Activity

Anatomy and Physiology students practiced using anatomical language for body parts and directional terms to perform a dissection in class. Students were told they were going to perform an autopsy of a "specimen" to determine its cause of death. Students had to determine if their patient died of heart attack, drowning, stabbing, gunshot wounds, or a brain tumor. To the relief of some and the disappointment of others, their “specimens” turned out to be pickle men with contrived aliments. It was a fun way to learn dissection safety and the importance of following directions written in proper anatomical terms.

See the pictures above of the torn art "Grendels" from Mrs. Gray's ELA 11 classes. The lesson with this is to use context clues from the text to determine what Grendel may look like. This leads into brainstorming for a personal essay about their own personal "Grendels" and relating it to the text.

In an effort to maintain security and ensure a smooth operation within our building, we kindly ask that you refrain from using delivery services to bring food to the high school. We have observed that the frequent arrival of delivery personnel is causing disruptions and potential security concerns.

To help us manage this situation effectively, we request that all food be brought from home or purchased through the school’s designated food service options. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated as we work to keep our school environment safe and secure for everyone.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
