A Note from Mrs. Mathe
The next few weeks are packed with exciting events and opportunities for our Hines families, and we can’t wait to share all that’s coming up!
Tomorrow is the Science Fair at Stockton Junior High! All students and families are invited to attend, explore the booths, and test their science knowledge. A huge thank you to our students and families who are volunteering at the Hines booth—I know our ice cream–making activity will be a big hit!
This week on campus, our first graders celebrated the 101st day of school, Dalmatian style! Our 3rd grade students wrapped up their science and language arts units on space with a fun, space-themed day that included a visit to the planetarium. This year, students experienced a new planetarium show that explored space using real videos, making it an exciting and memorable experience. Additionally, our 2nd grade students and their families enjoyed a fan favorite—Family Folk Dance Night and the 2nd Grade Open House. Each year, the folk dance takes me back to an old town square where the community comes together to dance, laugh, and enjoy time together. It truly was some good, wholesome family fun! Thank you to everyone who joined us and participated.
Next week is Marco’s Spirit Week—another fan favorite! Students have been working hard decorating their pizza boxes. When you order pizza from Marco’s throughout the week, be sure to tell them your child’s name, grade, and teacher’s name. Your pizza will be delivered (or ready for pickup) in your student’s custom-designed pizza box!
Also, next Tuesday Family Service Night. We are excited to once again pack lunches in decorated lunch sacks for Kids’ Meals, Inc. In addition, we will be working on a special project for Arnold Elementary, the new school opening in our feeder zone this August. We will be packing and preparing emergency backpacks so that when the doors open, teachers have what they need in their classrooms in case of an emergency. We hope you can join us for this heart-filling evening! We will begin at 6:00 p.m. and work until all bags are packed.

Student Spotlight
We are excited to introduce a new section in The Hines Herald called Student Spotlight! This feature will celebrate the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school. In this section, we will highlight students who have gone above and beyond—whether it’s reaching a personal goal, helping others, or making a difference in the community. We can’t wait to share these inspiring stories and honor the incredible ways our students shine!

Counselor's Corner
Our school counselors play a key role in supporting the whole child on campus by teaching classroom guidance lessons that build skills like teamwork, empathy, and decision-making; helping students with goal setting and planning for academic success; providing individual and small-group counseling to develop coping skills, emotional regulation, and resilience; and connecting families with helpful community resources. They work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and community partners to promote academic achievement, personal growth, and college/career readiness while also offering strategies for managing stress, problem-solving, and navigating life’s challenges.
