Our Cubs raised $1,587.48 for the West Side Food Pantry. Thank you to all of you that helped - we appreciate you!
New Staff
I'm happy to announce that we have two new staff members here at MMS. Adele Speelmon is our new Attendance Secretary. She has been with us for a couple of days and says she has enjoyed the fast pace, "never-a-dull-moment" environment of our middle school office! She is going to fit right in. 😀 We also have a new activities supervisor, Matthew Leituala. Some of you might know that Mr. Leituala served as a volunteer football coach for us this year, and he has already been busy managing basketball games, and even stepped in as an emergency referee for our 6th grade games on Friday. He already knows a lot of our kids, and I'm excited to have him on our team.
We will be doing a lot of training with both of these new staff members once we get back from Thanksgiving Break. Thank you so much for your patience with us as we have navigated these changes.
Idaho Youth Well-Being Survey
As part of registration for the new school year, parents had the option to allow their student to take the Idaho Youth Well-Being Survey. Those students that have permission will take the survey on December 16th during their PE classes. To find out more about the Survey, and to read the questions your students will be asked click on this link: https://www.communitiesforyouth.org/surveyinfo
World Cultures Class
I could smell something burning, so I followed my nose and found some of our World Cultures students cooking up some yummy food in room 106. (Nothing burned except some spills onto the stovetop 😁). It was great to hear about what they were cooking, what they were learning, and to see them having a good time. Students in the World Cultures classes are also busy planning events to benefit some great causes around the world. Great work Cubs!
Busy time of year
We have a lot going on at MMS, and the three weeks between Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break are jam packed!! Our Outdoor Rec class is taking a field trip to the NRS building, we have guest speakers coming to our Manufacturing and Production class, Boys Basketball, Cheer, and Girl's Wrestling are all busy, we have two music concerts coming up, a monthly fire drill, the 7th grade will see a live production at the Kenworthy, and our students will have a "spirit week" with dress-up days the week before break. I'll do my best to keep you all in the loop! It is a fun, but busy time of year.
7th Grade Field Trip
It's a Dickens of a Christmas Mystery!
We are thrilled to announce that our seventh-grade students have been invited to attend a live performance of A Sherlock Carol on Tuesday, December 16th. The performance will be the culminating event for our unit on Victorian England and A Christmas Carol. After lunch, students will board buses to the Kenworthy Theater, where they'll enjoy the magic of live theater. In A Sherlock Christmas, a grown-up Tiny Tim enlists Sherlock Holmes to investigate the mysterious death of Ebenezer Scrooge. The Great Detective will use his incredible skills to unravel a Dickens of a Christmas mystery!
We are excited for our students to have this wonderful opportunity to experience the thrill of live theater. The permission slip is attached to this newsletter. A Sherlock Christmas Permission Slip
