Board Approves English Textbooks & Instructional Materials Board Approves English Textbooks & Instructional Materials

At last night's Board meeting, the Board of Education approved new textbooks and instructional materials for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade English Language Arts. This was the second phase of the curriculum refresh. The first phase of developing the curriculum frameworks was approved by the Board last year. The new textbooks and materials will be in all classrooms starting next year.

Millard is always in an ongoing cycle of reviewing and refreshing curriculum. The process begins with work by committees of teachers and field studies. Additionally, all materials are available to the public during curriculum review open houses. Finally, the curriculum goes to the Board for approval.

Board Approves Additional Curriculum Frameworks Board Approves Additional Curriculum Frameworks

During last night's meeting, the Board also approved the curriculum frameworks for two additional areas of study. The first was for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade science. The second was for 6th through 12th grade skilled and technical sciences. Textbooks and instructional materials for these classes will be chosen next year.
