A Note from Ms. Hernandez

Dear Palomino Families & Supporters,

It’s hard to believe it’s already November! We have just 28 instructional days left in the semester, and every one of those days matters. Each one is an opportunity for our Palominos to learn, build confidence, and grow. As we enter this final stretch of the semester, let’s make attending school every day, arriving on time, and staying focused on learning a priority. How we finish matters just as much as how we started!

🐎 Every Palomino. Every Day.

Attendance remains one of the biggest predictors of student success. Being on time sets the tone for the entire day. Strong attendance helps students stay connected to their learning and build on the skills they practice each day. Missing school means missing instruction, classroom discussions, and hands-on experiences that can be difficult to recreate through makeup work alone.

Our campus attendance goal is 95%, and reaching it takes all of us! Please support your child’s success by:

  • Making daily attendance part of your family’s routine.

  • Arriving on time and ready to learn each morning.

  • Scheduling appointments outside school hours whenever possible.

  • Limiting early pickups so students benefit from the full instructional day.

When your child is healthy, we need them here! Please plan trips around scheduled school breaks to protect these remaining days of learning. If your family is facing a challenge that affects attendance, contact us so we can work together to help.

📚 Keep Learning the Priority

With holiday excitement approaching, consistent routines are especially important. At school, we will continue to prioritize meaningful instruction, targeted support, and opportunities to challenge our students. At home, reading together, practicing skills shared by teachers, and maintaining regular bedtimes help students arrive prepared to do their best.

Please review your child’s progress in Skyward regularly, stay connected with classroom communications, and reach out to their teacher with questions or concerns. Working together helps us recognize growth and address challenges early.

Let’s make these 28 instructional days count through strong attendance, steady effort, and a shared commitment to learning. Thank you for helping our Palominos finish the semester strong! Together, let’s make it another great week as we Expect Excellence and Achieve Greatness!

With Palomino Pride,

M. Hernandez

Expect Excellence. Achieve Greatness.

Important Safety Reminder: Dismissal Important Safety Reminder: Dismissal

Keeping every Palomino safe requires everyone to follow our dismissal procedures. Students being picked up by a parent or guardian in a vehicle must be picked up through the car rider line at the back of the school. This process includes safety measures to verify that students are released to an authorized adult listed in Skyward.

Walker dismissal is for students who walk home. Students will not be released from the walker line or group to walk to a vehicle. Vehicles crowding walker areas create additional hazards for students who are walking and crossing streets.

If someone attempts to pick up a student in a vehicle from the walker line, the pickup will not be permitted. The student will be returned to campus and must be properly picked up and signed out by an authorized adult on the student’s emergency contact list in Skyward.

Protecting our students is our responsibility, and these procedures are essential to ensuring the safety of every Palomino. Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in keeping dismissal safe for all.

Every Day Counts: Fourth Grade Takes the Top Spot

🎉 Congratulations to 4th Grade for being attendance H.E.R.O.s and earning the highest attendance of all grade levels this week! Fourth Grade has exceeded our 95% goal with an attendance rate of 95.07%. They will receive extra PBIS points and celebrate with a popsicle party!

Our overall campus attendance fell to 92.75%, on the Early Release Day, which means too many Palominos missed valuable instructional time. We have important work ahead, but we know we can turn this around! Let’s work together to ensure every Palomino is at school, on time, and ready to learn each day.

🔦 Spotlight on Learning: Mrs. Johns’ Kindergarten Class 🔦 Spotlight on Learning: Mrs. Johns’ Kindergarten Class

Our kindergarten learners were busy building early literacy skills in stations! While Mrs. Johns provided focused small-group instruction, classmates worked independently to identify letters and sounds, count syllables in classmates’ names, and find key words in their selected books. These stations gave students opportunities to practice important reading skills while building confidence and independence!

Please make sure to inform the campus administrators and/or the counselor about any extenuating circumstances affecting your student's attendance. It is important to have documentation for all absences. Student success is our priority, so please do not hesitate to reach out to the campus for support.
