BIG NEWS

First my Substack, then a vacation... and now this?!

Good things really do come in threes. I’m officially launching my consulting work under Yom Fox (Renaissance) Education!

After nearly two decades in private and independent schools—teaching, leading, mentoring, and learning—I’m thrilled to support educators, schools, and organizations in shaping purposeful, human-centered learning communities. You can explore my offerings and more at www.yomfox.com.

This year, I’m focused on reconnection—returning to the relationships and work that have sustained me across my career. The partnerships I’ve built over the years continue to shape who I am, and I’m deeply appreciative of your friendship.

As I start this next chapter, I’d be honored and grateful if you’d keep me in mind—whether for you, your team, a peer school, or simply to pass the word along.

A note on the name—and the design behind the site

I chose Fox (Renaissance) Education because this new chapter reflects something uniquely mine. It marks a renaissance—a professional reawakening, a return to the work that brings me joy, energy, and purpose. It also reflects the many roles I’ve held over the years—educator, leader, mentor, parent—and the clarity that comes from having lived each of them fully.

As for the logo and website’s look and feel, it’s inspired by the metamorphic rock gneiss (pronounced “nice”). Gneiss is formed under intense pressure. It becomes beautiful, layered, and strong—not because it began that way, but because it underwent transformation. That metaphor felt perfect for this moment and for the kind of work I do.

The colors and images throughout the site evoke the striations of gneiss rock—subtle layers, depth, and natural strength. It’s a nod to:

  • Substance and beauty— grounded in history, shaped by pressure, marked by enduring radiance.

  • Process over perfection— honoring growth, trusting time and evolving with intention.

  • Kindness with clarity— offering a steady presence, guided by purpose, and rooted in intentional leadership.

This work isn’t about the superficial—it’s deliberate, reflective, and rooted in what sustains people and communities. If you’re working toward thoughtful, lasting change—or want to explore how I might support your team—I’d love to connect.

GRATITUDE

Thank you to everyone receiving this—for being part of my community and my journey. Whether we’ve known each other for years or just a short while, you’ve made an impression. Thank you for reading, for our conversations—in person, over the phone, or by email. You are too numerous to name, and yet, at this moment, I want to offer public gratitude to a few in particular.

To my family—thank you for your love, encouragement, and endless championing. To Poppy Fox, in particular, who nudged me to put myself out there and offers daily tips on how to be “cool” while doing it—thank you. My children remind me each day of both the urgency and the promise of this work.

I’m grateful to Jim Best, Kawai Lai, Eric Hudson, Ali Morgan, Tamisha WIlliams, Gabriel Grant and Ross Wehner for hours of thoughtful conversation and encouragement as I stepped into this next chapter. To The Squad—thank you for always having my back and showing up.

And a heartfelt thank you to Jen MacDonald of Seattle-based Pen & Pixel—a brilliant, woman-owned small business—for bringing my vision to life. With care, clarity, and stunning design, she captured both the spirit and the strategy behind this new beginning.

The Other Fox in Education

Dr. Jared Fox is a STEM educator and consultant working at the intersection of science, the environment, and social justice. He contributed a chapter to From White Folks Who Teach in the Hood: Reflections on Race, Culture, and Identity (edited by Dr. Christopher Emdin and sam seidel), and his first book, Learning Environment, will be released on August 26, 2025. You can learn more about Jared’s work and connect with him at www.jaredfox.education.

In addition to being an award-winning educator, Jared is an incredible father and spouse. Watching him dedicate the past three years to this new book has been nothing short of inspiring—a reflection of the same passion and creativity he brings to family life and to every classroom he’s ever taught in.
