Hello Valley Community,

It's is that time of year again to celebrate our special teachers as next week is teacher appreciation week! In an effort to make the week as special for our teachers as possible please consider taking part in some of these ideas. They are from the heart and will show your child's teacher how much you appreciate them.

• Write a thank you note or send an email of appreciation
• Send their favorite snack or drink
• Have your child draw a picture of their favorite memory with their teacher
• Make matching bookmarks or friendship bracelets, so your child can match their teacher
• Take a quick video of your child saying what they appreciate about their teacher and email it to them
• Have your student write a handful of inspirational quotes for their teacher to read to make their days special
• Write a poem

Please help us show our faculty how fantastic they are. Thank you for all you do and your continued support of the amazing staff here in the Valley.

Valley Institute Elementary School is blessed with amazing superheroes who make our students' school life the best and this week we were able to celebrate them for all they do. If you see Principal Scott, Amy Wright, Nancy Rowe, Sandra Canter, or Leslie Hilton please give them a big "THANK YOU" for all they do.

Valley's Nutrition team comes to work everyday to make sure our students have two hot meals a day and that they get the healthy nutrients they need. These meals, our staff prepares, are a home cooked meal away from home for out students. Thank you for all you do to provide the best for our students.

Dear Families,
As required by the Virginia State Code, all public schools must conduct four lockdown drills each school year to help ensure student safety in the event of an emergency. We have already completed drills earlier this year and will conduct the remaining drills over the next several weeks.
Parents will be notified after each drill is practiced. These drills are part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and prepared learning environment for all students.

Third graders presented their compound machine projects on Friday, culminating their study of the six simple machines. They were tasked with creating a compound machine using two or more simple machines. We love seeing the creativity of our third grade engineers!

We would like to thank all of our families that have donated to the PBIS store. Students are excited to be able to spend their Bulldog Bucks they are earning during the 3rd nine weeks. The 3rd nine weeks PBIS store was March 12, 2025. If you would still like to donate, please review the attached letter below.

VIES is looking for parent volunteers to assist with various events and activities throughout the school year. If you are interested, please contact the school to learn more about the background check process and possible opportunities.

We have several ways to stay connected to your child's education and teachers. Every parent has access to ParentPortal which allows you to see grades and attendance. You can register on the county website if you have not already signed up or you can call the school and request your student's login information.
