Erin's Law & Gavin's Law
October 30, 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,
In the month of November our School Counselor, Walker Russell, will cover the state mandated information from Erin’s Law(safe touch) and Gavin’s Law(Internet safety). This lesson is designed to provide age-appropriate education and empowerment on the crucial topics of child sexual abuse prevention and internet safety. Mrs. Russell's lessons will empower students to report uncomfortable or unsafe interactions. After this lesson, the students should know:
1a. The adults taking care of you need to know where you are and what you are doing.
1b. Be aware of your personal boundaries, how to communicate your personal
boundaries, to respect others personal boundaries, and to ask for help if you need it.
2. No one should touch you in a way that makes you feel scared, uncomfortable, or
hurt (safe touches and unsafe touches).
3. No one should ever ask you to keep secrets about an unsafe or uncomfortable
situation (safe secrets and unsafe secrets).
4. Five examples of safe adults. Always tell a safe adult if you are hurt, made to feel
uncomfortable or scared, or made to feel unsafe. Always tell unsafe secrets.
5. In any unsafe or uncomfortable situation, say no or stop, leave, and tell (tell a safe adult)
