2026-2027 Bell Schedule

Principal's Message

Dear Harvey Green Families,

We have had such a strong start to the 2026–2027 school year, and I want to thank our students, families, and staff for making the beginning of the year so positive. It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their classrooms, building relationships with their teachers and classmates, and showing our Hornet expectations each day.

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for Back to School Night. Your partnership and involvement make such a difference in our students’ success. We appreciate you taking the time to meet your child’s teacher, learn about the year ahead, and connect with our school community.

I am also excited to share that Harvey Green Elementary School has been recognized with the 2026 California PBIS Platinum Implementation Award! This is a tremendous accomplishment and reflects the hard work of our students and staff in creating a positive, safe, and supportive school environment. Our PBIS expectations: Show Respect, Make Good Decisions, and Solve Problems, are an important part of our school culture, and we are proud of the way our Hornets continue to put these expectations into practice.

Thank you for your continued support of Harvey Green. We are off to a wonderful start, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together this year!

If there is anything your family needs assistance with, please reach out to me at tjohnson@fusdk12.net.

Sincerely,

Ms. Johnson

School Site Council (SSC)- Volunteers Needed

We are looking for one parent to be part of School Site Council. We will meet 5 times throughout the school year on Tuesdays at 5pm. If you would like more information or may be interested please email Ms. Johnson (tjohnson@fusdk12.net).

Volunteers

As many teachers discussed at Back to School Night, volunteer requirements have been changed. Classroom and field trips volunteers are required to annually complete CiviCore and a Mandated Report Course prior to volunteering. If you think that you may volunteer this year, it is suggested that you complete these requirements now. For more information see the CiviCore for Parents information sheet. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Penny in the office.

September is Attendance Awareness Month

One of the most important ways families can support student success is by making sure students attend school every day and arrive on time. Every school day provides opportunities for students to learn, build friendships, participate in classroom activities, and stay connected to their school community. Please make regular attendance a priority and help your child develop strong attendance habits from the very beginning of the school year.

Counselor Corner

Dear Harvey Green families,

September is all about building connections, getting comfortable at school, and starting the year with confidence. This month, students will have the opportunity to meet the school counselor, learn about how counseling can support them, and take a tour of our Wellness Center so they know how to utilize this space when they need a little extra support.

We’ll also be talking about making friends and building positive relationships. Students will practice ways to introduce themselves, include others, show kindness, and be a good friend. At home, you can help by asking your child, “What is one new thing you learned about your school?” or “What is one way you can help someone feel included?”

PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Expectations

Our PBIS brochure was provided at Back to School Night. This outlines our PBIS school-wide expectations, what PBIS is, and how we implement it at Harvey Green. One exciting news is that our school received a Platinum award in implementation this year! Go Hornets! We encourage you to review the expectations at home with your child so you can be familiar with our guidelines. Your involvement plays an important role in supporting positive behavior. Here’s to a wonderful school year filled with kindness, connection, friendship, and growth!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Ng

Free Breakfast and Lunch

ALL Green students will have access to free meals here at school. Students will be asked every morning if they are going to get a school lunch so we can order the correct amount

of food. Please communicate with your child if you would like them to get a school meal and if they are choosing the meat or vegetarian option.

Breakfast will be served daily in the MUR for any interested students at 8:00am. Students will be supervised while they eat and will be either released to recess when finished or if they are TK/K they will be walked to class.

For menus and more information please use this link.

Medication at School

If your child needs medication at school please use this link to get all necessary form. Health Forms

These forms will need to be completed and signed by the doctor. Do not send your child to school with medication in their backpack, this is unsafe for them and all other students.

Student Absences

If your child is ill or will not be attending school, please contact the school’s absence line (before 9am) at (510) 656-6438, then press 7.

Please leave the student’s name, class number and reason for absence. For reasons of student safety, we need to know where students are, so we can determine in a timely fashion who is not at school without their parents’ knowledge. If these absences are not cleared by a parent/guardian, they will be considered unexcused. Excessive absences and/or tardies, excused or unexcused, may result in a truancy warning.

Moving

Per Board Policy any parent/guardian of a student enrolled in the District shall notify the District prior to or within five (5) days of any change in circumstance and/or a move which would affect their student’s residency (AR 5111.1).

Please complete and email the Change of Address Form with 2 proofs of new address residency to your current school.
