Pride Update
11.18 | FRIDAY DECEMBER 19th

Dear PoDS Families,
Today is my last day as PoDS principal, and I wanted to take one final opportunity to express my gratitude. It has been a privilege to be a part of the Point of Discovery School community for more than ten years! I've been filled with a variety of emotions over the last few days: I'm excited about what's next; I'm sad about leaving the people who make this place special; and I'm grateful that the school is in good hands.
Thank you to all of you for entrusting us with the education of your children. And thank you for always making this place a welcoming and wonderful community! I know PoDS will continue to accomplish great things, and I'm excited to come back to see everyone!
All the best,
Dan Lathrop
ONLINE LEARNING CENTER E-APPLICATIONS
The Stevens Point Online Learning Center (OLC) is currently accepting applications for 2nd-semester classes and summer classes. Online classes can be a great fit for students who are motivated, mature and manage their time well. We have classes available in all core subjects as well as many electives. The list of course offerings and course descriptions are available on the OLC website: www.pointschools.net/olc
The deadline to submit an e-application for the spring semester is Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Students should contact Mr. Wotruba, stop it in the PoDS office, or email secondaryolc@pointschools.net if they have any questions.
SEROOGY'S CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER!
Sweeten your holiday season and support our seniors! After Thanksgiving break, Seroogy's Chocolate Bars will be available for $2 each. Every bar purchased helps fund the Class of 2026’s trip to Italy next summer.
Choose from delicious flavors like Chocolate Meltaway, Chocolate Crisp, Mocha, Peanut Butter Crisp, Almond, Shock Rock, and Mint. Treat yourself—or grab a few for gift-giving—and help our seniors make their Italian adventure a reality!
NEW MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCE FOR STUDENTS!
The Stevens Point Area Public School District now partners with Cartwheel, an evidence-based teletherapy service providing rapid access to mental health care for students and families. Services include 1:1 teletherapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, family therapy, and parent guidance, and are free for families with Medicaid or no insurance and in-network for most private plans. Telehealth appointments are available Monday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m., year-round, with no waitlist, and services are offered in over 10 languages.
