New Check-In Procedures for Student Safety:
We're grateful for the many visitors, volunteers, and guests who make our schools such welcoming places to learn and grow. To continue strengthening the safety and security of our campus, we are implementing a new visitor management system powered by VisitU.
Beginning October 5, 2026, all visitors, volunteers, and guests will check in through our new system when arriving on campus.
What to Expect:
-An iPad will be available at each front desk for check-in.
-Visitors will scan the back of their driver's license to check in.
-Visitors will be asked to take their picture the first time they sign in.
-A sticker label will be printed for visitors to wear while in the building.
-When leaving, visitors will scan the QR code on their badge to sign out at the front office.
Thank you for helping keep our campus safe!
Vision Screening
10th graders-
The health of a student, including vision, may influence academic achievement. School-aged children frequently experience changes in visual acuity as their eyes grow and academic demands increase. In an effort to identify any potential vision concerns school personnel trained and certified by the Prevent Blindness Association will do a vision screening on each student in 7th grade, and 10th grade with a completed Opt-In Form. The School Nurse will re-screen any students who do not pass the initial screening. Parents/guardians will be notified of any results indicating the student needs further assessment from an eye doctor. Follow the link below to access the TCS Vision Screening Opt-In Form to ensure your student is able to participate in the screening process.
Pumpkin fest:
Looking for a little spooky family fun? Come out to the Silvermont Pumpkin Fest and enjoy an evening filled with great music, yummy food, festive activities, and plenty of Halloween fun!
Many of our BHS clubs will be volunteering and participating, so it’s also a great way to support our students while supporting The Friends of Silvermont and this wonderful community tradition.
Bring your family and friends, grab some tasty treats, and come enjoy all the fall fun! We hope to see you there!
Upcoming Career Preparation Events:
Attendance Matters!
Students learn best when they are in class being taught by our great teachers! This year, there are updates to our attendance policies. Please see the important letter below from Dr. Fletcher explaining these changes:
Student Attendance Examples:
A student has a 65 in the class and has 12 unexcused absences. For 12-14 unexcused absences the final grade should be reduced by 10 points. The student would earn a 55 and fail the class.
A student has a 70 and has 15 unexcused absences. The consequence for 15 unexcused absences is 15 points from the final grade. The student would earn a 55 and fail the class.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the BHS administrative team.

Counseling Corner
As part of new state requirements, all ninth-grade students will be revising a Career Development Plan this year. These plans are designed to help students set goals, explore career interests, and map out steps for their future after high school. Our school is using NCcareers.org, a free statewide resource, to complete and store each student’s plan. Families are encouraged to review the plan with their student and use it as a tool for discussions about college, career, and future goals. You will be able to access your student’s plan by logging in with them at www.NCcareers.org. If you have any questions or would like support in navigating the site, please reach out to your student’s school—we’re happy to help!"
Thank you!
