WLWV Community Update
August 11, 2023
Complete Your Online Registration Now!
All families, even families of returning students, are asked to complete Online Registration (OLR) this school year. Parent-guardians are asked to do this through their ParentVue account using the link to Online Registration near the top-right part of the screen within their ParentVue account, or by going directly to the OLR link, as soon as possible.
New Students: OLR is the registration process for new students. New students will be enrolled in school once OLR is completed and accepted.
Returning Students: For returning students, this process does not impact their enrollment in school, but it does ensure that your school has updated information. After Aug. 28, parent-guardians will not be able to view information in ParentVue until OLR is completed.
If you need help with your ParentVue account or the OLR process, please contact your school office.
Smart Start Scheduled for Aug. 24 for All Schools
Smart Start will take place on Thursday, Aug. 24 at all schools. It will run from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at all primary and middle schools and from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at our high schools.
Students who participate are encouraged to complete a one-page student profile to bring to Smart Start, which can be found and downloaded on the district website. Families are also encouraged to review the Smart Start checklist for students with 504s and IEPs.
Be on the lookout for more back-to-school information as we get closer to the first day of school on Aug. 29!
Back-to-School Resource Event is Wednesday, Aug. 16!
Families will find free school supplies, technology support, access to WLWV staff for questions, community resources, Kona Ice, and fun for the whole family! We will be joined by several community partners to connect families to information and resources.
In anticipation of warm temperatures, this event will take place primarily indoors. We hope to see you there!
Apply for Free and Reduced Meals for 2023-24 School Year
Families can apply for free and reduced meals for the 2023-24 school year now. The grace period expires at the end of day on October 10, 2023. Please renew your Meal Benefit Application today for School Year 2023-24. Meal benefits are not retroactive.
The state has received additional funding for the Free & Reduced Meal Program which will qualify more families in Oregon! Please apply to see if your family qualifies.
Learn more, or apply today, by visiting the district website.
Bus Routes Coming Soon!
First Student, the district’s contracted bus company, is in the process of finalizing bus routes for the 2023-24 school year. We hope to post bus routes to the district website by next week, at which time we will alert all families that they are available for review.
Several factors were taken into consideration during the bus routing process, including the national bus driver shortage, increased neighborhood traffic in parts of West Linn and Wilsonville, the relocation of Athey Creek Middle School and addition of Riverside High School, and a desire to optimize bus routes district-wide.

Register Your ParentSquare Account Today!
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District is excited to share that our school district has moved to a new communication platform called ParentSquare starting in 2023-24. ParentSquare consolidates existing communication systems while providing better school engagement and access to information for families.
ParentSquare will provide the following advantages for WLWV families:
Allows for schools to send and receive school and class information.
Messaging automatically translates to the parent-guardian’s preferred language, allowing for meaningful one-way and two-way electronic conversations.
Flexibility for parent-guardians in how you receive information (email, text message, or through the free ParentSquare app) as well as when you receive information (instantaneous or digest).
All messaging is archived within ParentSquare so that you can easily review past information.
Parent-guardians can register their ParentSquare account any time this summer. Parent-guardians will receive information from their school regardless if they register their account or not, but registering will allow for parent-guardians to engage in two-way communication with their school as well as customize how and when they receive school updates. Parent-guardians are invited to learn more about ParentSquare by visiting this district webpage.
Volunteer in WLWV Schools!
The West Linn-Wilsonville School District uses HelpCounter for volunteer registration and sign-in to increase safety and security for all students. Interested volunteers can register to volunteer in WLWV schools by visiting the Volunteer Registration webpage. Simply select 'Start' to fill out your application, which includes a background check. The first time that volunteers sign-in to volunteer at any WLWV school they will be prompted to accept a Volunteer Agreement.
Volunteers must also re-register every three years, or when volunteering at a new school. Note that volunteer coaches register through a different process. Contact your school's athletic director or principal for more information.
Volunteering in WLWV schools is an extremely rewarding experience. Your time is greatly appreciated by both staff and students!
