Congratulations, October Student of the Month!
Each month, Omro High School selects a senior as the Student of the Month based on scholarship, citizenship, leadership, and involvement in co-curricular activities. The Student of the Month for October is Erick. Students chosen for this honor are recognized not only for their academic success and leadership but also for their positive contributions to the school and community. In addition, each Student of the Month is invited to attend an American Legion meeting for special recognition by the sponsoring organization and may be considered for the honor of serving as a graduation speaker. Congratulations, Erick!

Omro High School Named Jostens 2025 National Yearbook Program of Excellence!
Omro High School program has been recognized for their dynamic and engaging yearbook.
Jostens, the leading producer of yearbooks and student-created content, today announced that Omro High Schools yearbook program has achieved the Jostens National Yearbook Program of Excellence 2025 award at the Gold Level. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students to develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy.
The Omro High School award-winning yearbook program is under the direction of Ms. Trisha Benbo, the yearbook adviser.
Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall based on the yearbook’s arrival date at the school. The award was presented to the Omro High School yearbook program for achieving defined criteria in between one and three of the following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.
“Jostens is proud to recognize those individuals who have created an exceptional yearbook for their school and community,” said Tammy Whitaker, Jostens VP and COO Yearbook Division. “These schools did an exceptional job on multiple levels, despite the challenges presented by this school year. Yearbooks are a critical part of capturing and telling a school’s story, and Jostens is dedicated to supporting yearbook staff members as they do their important work.”
Seven Runners Place in Top 20 at Fox Lake Invitational
A job well done to the seven members of the Omro Cross Country team who earned Top 20 finishes at the Fox Lake Invitational last week!
Lillian led the way with an impressive 5th-place finish and a time of 20:58.8, followed by Mackenzie in 12th at 22:24.9. Charlee wasn’t far behind, crossing the line in 22:52.8, with Breanna and Audrey close together in 18th and 19th places, finishing at 23:15.5 and 23:16.8 respectively. On the boys’ side, Ben placed 4th with a strong 18:02.5, and Avery earned 14th with a time of 18:55.3. Congratulations to all on an outstanding performance!
Congratulations, Students and Thank You to Eckstein Family!
Last week, our students raised $250 during Homecoming Week to benefit the Christine Ann Center through a penny war. The Lenny and Trudy Eckstein family has generously matched the funds raised by Omro High School students and contributed an additional amount in appreciation of the Freshman class’s inclusivity and kindness during their Homecoming Lip Sync and Ditties. Their total donation of $750 will be added to the students’ contribution. The Eckstein's shared that they hope this gesture encourages students to continue making a positive impact in their community.
If you would like to add to the Christine Ann Center donation as well, please feel free to drop off any donations to the main office this next week.
Grant Recipient
Congratulations to Cindy Morse on being awarded a Wisconsin Beef Council grant! Money from this grant can be used towards the purchase of beef/veal products to be used in the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom during the Fall semester of 2025. Thank you, Cindy, for continually providing great learning experiences for our students!

IN THE KNOW
End of the Quarter Update
As we approach the end of the first quarter, we want to provide some clarity around what this means for students and families this school year.
The last day of the quarter for students is Wednesday, October 23rd. In previous years, students had a week after the quarter ended to make up assessments, and report cards were posted in two phases. However, this year’s structure is slightly different.
This year, the end of the quarter is considered a progress checkpoint rather than a final grading period. High school grades are cumulative over the full semester—from August 21st through January 12th—so the Quarter 1 report card is a snapshot of progress rather than a finalized grade.
A Quarter 1 report card will be posted to Skyward on Tuesday, October 28th, to provide families with an update on student progress. Please note:
Students can still retake assessments and improve their understanding of material, in accordance with their teacher’s retake policy.
Grades from this quarter will continue to evolve and contribute toward the final semester grade, which is what appears on official transcripts.
We encourage all students to use this progress report as an opportunity to reflect, seek feedback, and build momentum going into the second half of the semester. If you have questions or concerns about your student’s academic progress, please reach out to their teachers directly.
As a reminder, the quarter progress report is used to determine eligibility for student-extracurricular participation in games/events/activities. Students with non-passing marks will have a period of ineligibility. Please refer to the Student/Parent Handbook, pages 69-70, for more details.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
