• Finalize your College Application Lists!
• Be aware of all your application deadlines - including Early Decision/Action
• Make sure your college essays, if required, are polished and ready to go!
• Create a Senior Resume, listing all academic, athletic, and extra curricular achievements! This is invaluable to those who you are asking to do your Letters of Recommendation!
• Do your Residency Determination to ensure in state tuition rates for all community colleges and public 4 year institutions!
• Complete the FAFSA - it opened on Oct 1st! Be sure to send your results to all colleges that you are applying to!
• Go on Campus Tours
• Start scholarship searches. Check college websites, and emails and publications from the counseling department!
• Focus on your grades and extracurricular activities! Finish strong!!!

Piedmont High School's Financial Aid Night is Tuesday, October 28th, at 6:00pm in the Auditorium.

Ms. Timeka Ruffin from CFNC will be coming to present to our seniors and parents!

She will speak about all the different ways to pay for college and any new updates to the FAFSA!

Please plan on attending!

Many North Carolina colleges and universities participate in college application week by waiving application fees during College Application Week, October 20-26, 2025. The complete list of colleges participating has not been released yet, but it will include all community colleges, most private colleges and universities, and some select public universities.

You must have a CFNC account and must apply to your colleges through CFNC during this week in order to receive the waived application fees! See your counselor with any questions you may have!

Piedmont HS will be administering the ASVAB on October 8th. Please see Major Richardson if you are interested in signing up! You must be 16 years old or above in order to qualify to take the ASVAB.

Through your Scoir account, you can see college profiles, send documents to the colleges/universities that you have applied to, keep track of those documents, and get career information as well! The Common App and Scoir have merged this year - super helpful for everyone!

Be sure that you are using your Scoir account to help you with these important senior tasks!

Remember, if you are applying early decision or early action to a college or university, those deadlines are approaching fast! Some are coming due in early October, but most are due by November. Be sure that you understand the difference between Early Decision Binding and Early Decision Non-Binding. If you apply Early Decision Binding, the expectation is that if you receive an offer of admission to that school, you will immediately drop all other applications and commit to that college/university. If you apply Non-Binding, you may still consider other schools before you make your final decision. Be sure that you get your applications for Early Decision or Early Action in on time!
