Message From The Principal
Grasonville Families,
Another successful week in the books! Our daily routines are well underway, and meaningful learning is happening in every classroom.
I’m incredibly proud of the hard work from our staff and students this week. A few quick updates:
Academic Screeners: We began running routine screeners this week to gather data on how to best support your child's individual growth.
Positive Behavior Referrals: Congratulations to all the students who earned a referral this week! Seeing their faces light up when we call home to share the good news is the best part of our work.
Looking Ahead: Monday will be an "E" day for Unified Arts. We have a full, uninterrupted 5-day school week ahead!
Mr. Stephen Rafter
GES Principal
New "Raptor" Parent Visitor Passport System App
My Raptor Passport
QACPS has a new parent sign-in system. When parents enter our building, they must sign-in to be allowed entry. Our new program has an app that parents can download onto their phone, Once this is completed it makes the sign-in procedure very fast and efficient.
Attached is a Resources Poster Visitorsafe sign in for My Raptor Passport, this will allow parents/guardians to input their information, to include ID, pic, etc, prior to coming to the school. once completed you will then simply scan the QR code, which will print the ID immediately, without any delay. It can also sign them out, by hitting sign out and scanning the QR Code again. My Raptor Passport, will make a big difference in efficiency and speed when signing in. We strongly encourage you to download the app, as it will take less time checking in. Without the app, you will be required to rescan your ID each visit with the sign-in tablet in the front office.
The name of the app is "Raptor Safe". Follow the guided steps and choose "I don't have a code" when you get to that point of the process.

Message from our School Psychologist
Mental Health is for Everyone
When we hear the words mental health, we sometimes think only about mental health disorders. In reality, mental health is a part of every child’s overall health. It includes how children manage emotions, cope with challenges, build relationships, solve problems, and function at home and at school.
Families can support children’s mental health through simple everyday actions:
spending time together
listening without immediately trying to “fix” the problem
establishing predictable routines
encouraging healthy activities
helping children put words to their feelings.
One of the most powerful things a child can hear is: “I’m here. You can talk to me. We’ll figure this out together.” Mental health is not about feeling happy all the time—it is about helping children develop the skills and support they need to navigate both the good days and the difficult ones.

SNEAKER REMINDER
As a Physical Educator, I want your child to reach their goals, learn and have fun in a safe environment. In order to ensure that your child obtains maximum benefit and participation in their Physical Education classes, we need to reinforce that all students wear sneakers for every PE class throughout the year. We also need to maintain the quality of the gym floor. Boots, shoes, sandals, crocs and other footwear are unsafe for your child to wear in this physical environment and may also damage the floor surface.
Your child will be required to wear sneakers in order to participate in Physical Education classes. If they do not wear them to class, they will not be permitted to participate in the activity that day. If the activity is such that they may be safely involved, they will be allowed to join in on the activity. If unsafe footwear is consistently worn on PE days, we will send a reminder home with your child. If your child usually wears shoes or boots to school, please send their sneakers along with them in their backpacks.
SAFE SNEAKER CRITERIA:
•regular heels and soles only - no "high-heeled" or "platform" sneakers
•the laces and/or velcro should fasten sneakers securely to the foot (sneakers will not fly off feet while child is moving)
•"hiking boots" do not qualify as sneakers - hooks damage equipment, floor and students
Thank you for your understanding and support!
Ms. Wilkes
