Therefore, parents you will need to come and pick up your child from school on these days in the car rider line with your light blue raining day tag or the front office. Remember, a rainy day does not count as a severe weather day so make sure your child is prepared!
Attendance Matters: HERE'S WHY! 👇👇👇
Attendance Reminder for Parents and Guardians
The State of Texas requires students to maintain at least 90% attendance, which means scholars must be present for 90% of the school days to meet state requirements. Attendance is closely monitored, and previous attendance contracts will be reviewed. New contracts may be issued as needed to ensure scholars meet the criteria for promotion to the next grade level, which is one of the requirements for advancing.
We appreciate your partnership in helping your scholar attend school daily and on time, as consistent attendance is essential for academic success.
Principal Day
ONE VOICE. ONE VISION. ONE PACK.
KEY PRIORITIES!
Attendance: Please help your child be at school on time each day, ready to learn. Every day counts in their success.
-
Learning at Home: Take a few minutes each evening to ask your child about their day, read together, or review homework. Small moments make a big difference.
-
Positive Behavior: Encourage your child to follow our P.A.C.K. expectations—being polite and prepared, paying attention to academics, cooperating with others, and showing kindness to all.
-
Communication: Stay connected with us through newsletters, phone calls, emails, and campus events. We value your voice and partnership.
Together, we are ONE VISION. ONE VOICE. ONE PACK. With your support, we know this school year will be full of growth, joy, and success for our scholars!

TUTORIALS SESSION 2 IN FULL EFFECT!
Tuesday & Wednesday Tutorials: Stay on Track for Success!
Families, scholars who are currently Approaching or Meeting grade-level standards have made strong progress, and we want to keep that momentum going! Tuesday and Wednesday Tutorials are designed to help these students strengthen and maintain their skills so they do not decline or regress before STAAR. With only six months until testing, consistent participation is key to continued growth and on-grade-level achievement. Let’s work together to ensure every scholar stays on track for success!
Saturday Tutorials Matter!
Families, please know that scholars invited to Saturday Tutorials are being given a critical opportunity to strengthen their Reading and Math skills and reach on-grade-level success on the STAAR. With STAAR Assessments only six months away, there’s limited time to close learning gaps and build the skills needed for success. Every session counts; please ensure your child attends and takes full advantage of this important support to boost their achievement!
REMINDER: SCHOLAR MORNING DROP-OFF SAFETY
ALL GENERAL EDUCATION CAR RIDERS SHOULD BE DROPPED OFF & PICKED UP IN LANE B; NOT THE FRONT OF THE CAMPUS!
We need your help with traffic safety. All car riders scholars should be dropped off in the mornings and picked up in the afternoon in the car rider line in Lane B; that is on the Wellington Street side of the building. Please help us and the SISD Police Officers on campus keep our scholars safe.
3RD-5TH GRADE BEHAVIORS ACROSS CAMPUS
PLEASE HAVE A TALK WITH YOUR SCHOLARS/POR FAVOR, HABLE CON SUS ESTUDIANTES
At Thompson Elementary, we are committed to ensuring every scholar reaches their fullest academic potential. To maximize instructional time, it is essential that all scholars follow the behavior expectations of our campus and district. Currently, our overall STAAR passing rates are below academic expectations, and frequent redirection of off-task behaviors is impacting not only the learning of those scholars causing the disruptions but also their peers.
We need your continued partnership in reminding your scholar of the following expectations:
Inappropriate playing in the restroom – Restrooms should be used for their intended purpose only; safety and respect are expected at all times.
-
Disruptive behavior during class transitions – Scholars should move quietly and follow teacher directions to maintain order and maximize learning time.
-
Loud or disruptive talking during lunch – Scholars may converse at a low voice level, but excessive noise disrupts the cafeteria environment.
-
Rough play at recess – Scholars are expected to play safely and respectfully to avoid injuries and conflicts.
-
Failure to complete assignments – Completing classwork and homework is essential for reinforcing learning and meeting grade-level expectations.
If these behaviors continue, parents and guardians will be notified, and extracurricular privileges such as field trips, pep rallies, class parties, portions of recess, and Field Day will be withheld from some scholars.
Thank you in advance for your continued partnership and support in helping us create a safe, respectful, and academically focused environment for all scholars.

- The school level Spelling Bee will occur on Thursday, November 20th.
- "Parents, please check with your scholars about replacing their headphones for in class use. Students are using computer applications that require this *daily* and many scholars do not have operable ones. When replacing, it would be best to replace them with headsets that have a microphone. Thanks!
- *15 minutes of practice a day on iReady (math) and Boost or Amira (reading) can make a huge difference! These programs are set to your scholar's current level of learning. Student can sign into their Spring ISD portal to access their learning programs at home!

During the morning car rider line, please pull up to the 1st spot available where a staff member is available to open the door for your student. This will help alleviate traffic on Walters and Wellington.
This process also aids us in getting all scholars out of their cars safely. Once they enter the building, there are staff members at several places in the building to ensure that everyone makes it to class effiicently and safely.

REMINDER: Safety, Security, & TES Traffic Flow Plan
Your continued support is needed with following the established safety protocols set on campus to ensure the safety of all scholars.
1. When dropping scholars off to campus, please do not leave scholars on the school property before 7:35am as there will be no adult supervision before that time.
2. Please do not drop your scholars off on the curb or sidewalk. Please utilize the car rider line to ensure a potential accident does not happen.
3. If you walk your scholars to school, please do not enter through the doors beyond the cones but rather stop and allow your scholars to enter and walk to class.
4. Please be sure that your scholar(s) is in their grade level dress code daily.
5. Please be sure that your scholar(s) arrive between 7:35 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. This will give them time to eat their breakfast before it is over and instruction starts at 8:05 a.m. sharp
6. If you drop your scholar off after 8:05a, you must walk them into the building and sign them in at the front office.
7. Please be sure that your scholar(s) have their transportation tags daily: (Car rider, Bus, Daycare, Walker/Biker)
8. Lost tags will incur a cost to be paid at the front office for new ones.
9. If you plan to pick your scholar(s) up early, make sure it is before 2:45 p.m. We will not be able to release anyone scholar(s) after this time to ensure that their is no interruption in the dismissal process.
10. Please understand that we will not allow routine transportation changes for any scholars. Choose one mode of transportation so that there will not be any chances of scholars being lost. This aids all staff and Guest Teachers in knowing the one mode of transportation for a scholar.
It is necessary that all protocols are followed daily and consistently to ensure the safety of all scholars and staff. We appreciate your diligence and support.
Thank you,
