Fall Homecoming
What a beautiful night it was to celebrate our 2026 Fall Homecoming! The night began with the senior class winning the annual banner competition and continued with the procession of our homecoming court candidates. Thank you to all candidates for representing your class with pride, and congratulations to our new royalty, Prince Chance Nevins, Princess Teagan Ivy, King Lane Phegley, and Queen Marley Blakeman! Congrats also to our football team on their dominant win over Mitchell! Go Thunderbirds!
Powder Puff & Bonfire
This year's PowderPuff game came down to the wire with the combined Junior-Sophomore squad narrowly defeating the Senior-Freshman team. "It was a competitive game, but everyone was sportsmanlike and had a really good time," said senior Hayden Crooks.
Afterward was the annual bonfire where hotdogs and smores were served and fireworks were also on display. Students and staff in attendance all had a great time!
Additionally, entrance to the game was a nonperishable food item. 202 pounds of food (up from 167 pounds last year) was collected and donated to Our Father's Arms.
Homecoming Dance
This year's "Casino Royale" homecoming dance was a success and had a lot of student turnout! In addition to Corrina Houser DJ'ing the event, snacks and drinks were provided, and a photo booth was available.

Weathering & Erosion
Mrs. Freeman’s 7th grade science classes are putting their knowledge of weathering and erosion to the test with an exciting escape room challenge. Students are working together to solve science-based clues and puzzles involving processes such as the breakdown, movement, and deposition of Earth’s materials. Along the way, they are applying what they’ve learned about how water, wind, ice, and other forces continuously shape and change Earth’s surface.
Cob & Cog
We had a great day at the 2026 Cob and Cog at Ivy Tech. The kids got to compete in agriculture and engineering competitions, network with local industry, and make new memories. We had two first place finishes and one second place finish.
1st place
Break Free: Macy Strain, Peyton Fields (his 2nd straight year on the winning team)
Escape Room: Machara Smith, Anna Summit, Dreyson Orr, Janna Roberts, Skylynn Throckmorton, Gabe Fowler
2nd place
Industrial Safety: Jasper Albee, Gabby Ransford
The students are already talking about next year!

Dissecting Owl Pellets
Our 6th-grade students became scientists as they dissected owl pellets! They carefully examined and identified bones to discover what owls eat, then used their evidence to explore the owl’s role in a food web and the flow of energy through an ecosystem. It was a fascinating hands-on learning experience!
Student Council Elections
Our students had an exciting week of campaigning and voting in this year’s Student Council election! Candidates worked hard to share their ideas by creating colorful campaign posters, handing out business cards, and speaking during a question-and-answer session. On Thursday afternoon, students headed to the polls to cast their votes. We are excited to announce our newly elected Student Council members:
4th Grade Representatives
• Clara
• Beau
• Tesla
5th Grade Representatives
• Sawyer
• Logan
• Blaizze
6th Grade Representatives
• Ledger
• Brynnlea
Secretary: Rusty
Treasurer: Gradon
Vice President: Kason
President: Amelia
Congratulations to our new Student Council members! We are also proud of every student who participated and demonstrated confidence, responsibility, and leadership throughout the election process.
Hunter's Education
Northeast East Elementary’s sixth grade students recently completed Hunter’s Education! Thank you to Conservation Officers Landis and Weir for sharing their knowledge and teaching our students about safety and responsibility. It was especially meaningful to welcome Officer Weir, a former Hymera Elementary student and son of our first grade teacher, Mrs. Weir!
NORTHEAST NORTH
Ice Cream Day
You scream! I scream! We all scream for ice cream! Northeast North had their first ice cream day in the cafe on September 22. Ice cream will be served every Tuesday for $1.00.
Families can add money to the student’s Harmony accounts so that it is available if and when he or she chooses to participate this school year in ice cream day.
Celebrates the Human Body with CKLA Learning Day
On Thursday, September 24th, Mrs. Secrest and Mrs. Horst’s first-grade classes at Northeast North Elementary celebrated their CKLA Human Body unit with a special family learning day in the gymnasium. Students became the teachers as they guided their families through a variety of interactive learning centers and proudly showcased what they had learned throughout the unit.
Families explored the human body using VR headsets with Mrs. Brown, learned about different body systems through hands-on puzzles, practiced dental health skills, played Operation, and created brain-themed crafts. To demonstrate their understanding of the five senses, students and families also enjoyed the sights, sounds, smells, and taste of freshly popped popcorn during the event.
The gymnasium was filled with excitement, curiosity, and pride as students shared their knowledge with their loved ones. Families and students alike were highly engaged and thoroughly enjoyed this memorable celebration of learning!
Hawaii/Beach Day
Mrs. Snellenberger’s class enjoyed participating in Spirit Day! We called it Hawaii Day/Beach Day. They all had great beach outfits! We look forward to more fun days at school!
Flannels & Flapjacks
Second grade students turned their attention in September to the American frontier and tall tales about Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill, John Henry, and Casey Jones. They learn about the characteristics of tall tales, such as exaggeration and larger-than-life characters. As a culminating activity for the CKLA reading unit, students invited their families to join them for Flannels and Flapjacks. Families enjoyed pancakes with their second graders. While at the event students read poems and stories about the tall tales. Students completed art projects with large Paul Bunyan feet! And… of course, Paul Bunyan made an appearance (or was that our SRO Officer Vaughan?) It was a great event with lots of families attending!
