A Note from the Principal A Note from the Principal

Day 15/180 (165 to go!)

I love Open House week at the Jacobs. On Tuesday, our sixth and seventh grade families showed up in force to learn more about our middle school program and meet the many teachers who make up the JMS team. During my introduction to families, I admitted that I had missed my own middle school children’s Open House the week before. Why do I admit that to you? Because we understand that sometimes life gets in the way. If you were unable to attend, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers or to us with any questions or information you may be seeking.
Wednesday’s JES Open House has a completely different feel, but the energy in the building was just as strong. The two hours I spent greeting families at the door went by in what felt like minutes, with a steady flow of parents, students, siblings, and extended family members coming and going, all with smiles and friendly greetings. Weeks like this remind all of us at the Jacobs just how fortunate we are to work in such a welcoming, supportive, and dedicated community. That partnership matters, and as a staff, we are more motivated than ever to provide your child with their best year yet.
Just a friendly reminder that next Wednesday is our first early dismissal of the year. During the shortened day, our JMS students will participate in their second Middle School Meeting of the year. That Friday will also be a JES Spirit Day and assembly, so our elementary students are encouraged to wear their blue and gold.
Looking a little further ahead to the week of October 5, we are hopeful that our late buses will begin running for students in grades 4 through 7 as our JMS Clubs get underway and JASPER sits just around the corner. The school year is certainly picking up speed, and there is a lot to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this week and, more importantly, for the partnership you provide throughout the entire year. Open House may only happen once, but our doors and lines of communication are always open.

-Mr. Shaw

Introducing Hull High School Principal, Mrs. Ellen Murray

Hull Public Schools is pleased to announce that after an exhaustive search, Mrs. Ellen Murray has accepted the principalship of Hull High School. Her first day in the role will be Monday, November 9th.

Mrs. Murray is currently the Assistant Principal of Norwell Middle School, a role she has held since 2022. Prior to becoming an assistant principal in Norwell, she served as a teacher and leader at Quincy High School. Starting in Quincy in 1999, she taught both Spanish and Italian and served as the chair of the World Language Department. After completing her Master’s Degree in Administration, Policy and Planning at Boston University in 2003, she was promoted to serve Quincy High School as an Assistant Principal from 2008-2022.

A resident of Scituate, Mrs. Murray is familiar with the south shore and the Town of Hull. She is currently enrolled in a Doctoral program at Boston College in Educational Leadership with a Social Justice Lens. Mrs. Murray said “Success takes teamwork, and teaching and learning are maximized when there is a culture of joy, honesty, and support.”

“As a school community, it is important that we structure our resources and efforts to help Mrs. Murray start off strong at Hull High School” said Superintendent of Hull Public Schools Dr. Jette. “We are excited to welcome her as a new member of our school community and look forward to her advancing the work of the faculty and administration.”
