Eggert Updates 2/06/26

Dear Eggert Families,

The past couple of weeks at our school have truly been abuzz with learning, creativity, and community spirit! I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible PTO for hosting a wonderful STEM Night last week. It was inspiring to see our students so engaged, curious, and excited as they explored hands-on activities alongside their families. We are also deeply grateful to the PTO for the thoughtful staff appreciation snacks this week, your kindness and support mean so much to our entire staff.

Our building has also been filled with music, laughter, and hard work as preparations continue for our upcoming production of Shrek Kids. A sincere thank you to our musical directors, advisors, students, and families for the countless hours of dedication and enthusiasm you have poured into this special experience. We cannot wait to see all that effort shine on stage!!!

Inside our classrooms, meaningful learning is happening every day. Students have been exploring habitats, diving into realistic fiction and poetry, strengthening phonics and vocabulary routines, and engaging in lots of thoughtful writing. In addition, we continue to celebrate positive character throughout our building through our SHINE celebrations, recognizing students who model kindness, responsibility, and respect. A big shout out to the Buffalo Bandits for visiting our school as special guest readers.

Thank you for being such an important part of our vibrant school community. It truly takes all of us working together to make our school a place where students learn, grow, and shine!

In partnership,

Dr. Szczesniak

Dear Families,

We wish you a restful and refreshing February break beginning Monday, February 16. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us reestablish a consistent school routine. We truly appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking additional time off before or after the scheduled break, as every school day provides valuable opportunities for students to learn and to connect with their peers and teachers.

Even missing just 10% of school—approximately two days per month—over the course of the year can negatively impact a student’s academic success. We understand that some absences are unavoidable due to illness or other circumstances beyond a family’s control. However, frequent absences, tardiness, or early dismissals can cause students to fall behind academically and socially and may lead to ongoing attendance challenges.

Together, we can make school attendance a priority by:

• Emphasizing the importance of arriving at school on time each day and staying for the full school day

• Supporting consistent daily routines, including completing homework and getting enough sleep

• Avoiding non-urgent appointments during the school day whenever possible

• Keeping students healthy and contacting the school nurse with any concerns

• Monitoring academic progress and seeking support when needed

• Staying aware of your child’s social connections

• Encouraging participation in meaningful after-school activities, such as sports and clubs

• Regularly reviewing attendance to ensure absences are not accumulating

We look forward to welcoming students back when school resumes on Monday, February 23. Frequent absences can sometimes signal that a student is struggling academically, socially, or emotionally, or may need additional support or connection. If your child or family needs assistance, please reach out to your school building or connect with the Family Solutions Center.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
