Calhoun Ranger Report - 10/24
π A Note From Ms. Sara Anderson
Dear Calhoun Early Childhood School Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Family Engagement Night! We had such a great turnout, and it was wonderful to see families connecting, participating in activities, and enjoying time together.
I also want to share how much it means to me when you stop to say helloβor to tell me how much you appreciate being greeted in the carpool line each morning. Knowing that you and your children miss me when Iβm not there truly warms my heart.
This year, one of my personal goals is to grow through feedback. Iβm currently reading Thanks for the Feedback by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen, and Iβve been collecting input from our staff on ways I can improve as a leader. Your kind words in passing have reminded me that families have valuable feedback tooβand I would love to hear from you!
Please take a few moments to share your thoughts using the form below. Let me know how I can better support you and your family, and what you think Iβm doing well so I can keep it upβeven if itβs as simple as a morning smile and wave.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. I truly feel like the luckiest principal in the world to work alongside the best students and families.
Warmly,
Sara Anderson

Reminders
π’ Please remember that while our school time starts at 7:30am, we are outside and greeting kids starting at 7:00am. We have had very few cars arriving between 7:00am-7:20am. If you wait until the last minute to bring your child in the carpool line, you run the risk of arriving tardy. Please make sure to plan ahead and utilize the line before 7:15am. You will get in and out with no wait!
β° For safety and efficiency, students will not be released after 2:00pm. Please plan ahead for appointments or other time commitments to ensure your child is picked up before this time.
π Please remember that we run two car lines at the same time:
From the North: Turn left into the left lane of the parking lot. This lane is for Piney Woods, Gulf Coast, and South Plains.
From the South: Turn right into the parking lot and use the right lane, which wraps around to the back of the building. This lane is for Big Bend, Hill Country, and Panhandle.
π΅Please enter the parking lot with caution and avoid using your phone while driving. As you turn in, use your blinker to signal. This helps us clearly distinguish Calhoun families from neighborhood traffic and ensures a smoother, safer arrival for everyone.

State-Mandated Hearing & Vision Screenings β October 29 & 30
As required by Texas state law, Health Services will be conducting hearing and vision screenings for all students at Calhoun ECS on October 29th and 30th. Screenings will be performed by trained Health Services staff during the school day. These screenings are an important part of identifying any potential issues that may affect your childβs learning. If your child wears glasses or hearing aids, please ensure they bring them to school on these days.
