Sanford Family Newsletter
August 9th, 2024
From the Principal
November 21, 2025
Good People,
I am sending today's weekly newsletter eariler than usual as we have received requests for more information. It has been a wild week. Together our staff have done everything possible to make it through the week safely. We have implemented safety precautions that include more patrols of our perimeter around the building and additional EMSS staff inside the building out of an abundance of caution. I am deeply grateful for Tim, Aaron and Moises from EMSS. I have also consulted, almost daily, with our Associate Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent. I have returned countless emails and phone calls doing my best to both partner with our families and reassure them that we are okay. We are okay and we have done really hard things this week.
While we can’t share specifics, it is important to note that we are doing all the things to follow up on each rumor and concern. In the absence of specifics, in this world where you can get details on anything via the internet, it is really hard to move forward without knowing all the details.
Sanford remains one of the safest schools in our area precisely because of our collective commitment to handling hard things with collaboration, kindness and and respect. We always invite our students to seek out a trusted adult for support. During challenging times, our focus will remain on academics and encouraging positivity. Yesterday we held an all school assembly for Native American Awareness Week and it was a great opportunity to see their classmates dance and the all Native Fire Crew.
May there be happy chaos, normalcy and the joy of “6-7” today. Thank you for your continued partnership in maintaining the safe and supportive environment that defines Sanford.
In Partnership,
Naida Grussing-Neitzel, Ed.S.
