Principal's Corner - August 14, 2026
We did it, Squire Family! Our first week is officially in the books—and it was fabulous!
Our Squires filled the halls with smiles, excitement, and so much positive energy. It was wonderful to see students reconnect with friends, settle into their classrooms, and begin building relationships with their teachers. We are off to an incredible start!
Thank you, parents, for your patience, encouragement, and partnership as we worked through all of those first-week routines. It truly takes all of us working together to make LTE such a special place for kids.
Take some time this weekend to rest, recharge, and celebrate a fantastic first week. We can’t wait to welcome our Squires back for an even better Week Two!
LTE is the place to be! Let’s keep learning and leading together, Squires!
With appreciation,
Amanda Prehn

Parent Compact Ready to Sign - Parent Action Needed
At LTE, we know our Squires are most successful when school and home work together! As part of our Title I requirements, we ask all families to log in to Skyward to review and acknowledge our Parent-School Compact. This compact outlines the ways our school, staff, students, and families can partner to support learning and success throughout the year. More than simply a requirement, it represents something we truly value at LTE—your involvement, partnership, and support matter! Please take a few minutes to review the compact in Skyward and sign that you are in agreement. We’re all in this together, Squire Family!
Join the Squire Choir Today
Ms. Boyd, our fabulous music teacher, is looking for 4th and 5th grade students to join her Squire Choir this school year! Please scan the QR code below for more details or have your student stop by the music room form if they need assistance applying.
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
One of our most important jobs is making sure every Squire gets home safely and the right way each day! This first week went really smoothly and we appreciate you communicating both with your child and their teachers ahead of time so everyone was prepared for these first three days.
All families will need to register their child’s permanent mode of transportation in our SMART Tag system using the link below. Thanks to all of you that have made these updates for week two and beyond!
Friendly reminder that all students will start walking on their own to class (with staff help, if needed, of course) starting on Monday. They are ready! Please be sure to pump them up for this if they are nervous - we will make sure it's a great start on our end.

DISCOVERY/GIFTED AND TALENTED PROGRAM REFERRAL - DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 10/15
Attention LTISD Parents and Guardians,
Discovery, otherwise known as Gifted and Talented, is the enrichment program provided for students who have been identified as intellectually gifted and talented. All students are eligible to be selected for the Discovery program at each campus. In order to be identified as gifted and talented, each student must undergo a screening and selection process. The Discovery Program is now accepting parent referrals for GT Screening via Google form.
Elementary Form - For Grades 1, 3, 4, 5
Second Graders will not need a referral. The entire grade level will be screened in October. More information to come.
Kindergarten students can be referred for GT testing beginning in January 2027. More details will be shared regarding this process at the end of the first semester.
Transfer students, who were already identified as GT coming from their previous district, should submit the Google form as soon as possible, as the transfer student screening will be set within 30 days of the first day of school. Parents should send proof of their child's selection/participation in the previous GT program directly to the campus GT coordinator. (This applies to families that haven’t already been in touch with the GT coordinator.)
Parents can submit referrals for screening by October 15, 2026. Testing will occur during the 2nd 9 weeks of instruction. If the referral and permission forms are not submitted by the deadline, the next opportunity for the student to be screened will be the following academic year. Spring screening is reserved for students moving in new to the district after the fall testing window is closed and for kindergarten students.
The forms, program information and campus coordinator names can be found on the district Gifted and Talented page.
Once the request is submitted through the Google form, the campus GT coordinator will contact parents via email after October 15th to share pertinent information.
You are also welcome to contact your campus GT coordinator at any time with questions.
Campus Visitor Information
Your child's safety is our top priority here at LTE. We want every visitor to feel welcome here on campus and appreciate your support in ensuring that our students enjoy a safe learning environment throughout the school year. District-wide, every visitor will be required to show a picture ID each time they visit the campus. Get in the habit of grabbing that ID each time you visit us and this will save you time upon arrival.
Your picture ID is required to enter our building. Any government issued ID is acceptable, as you were required to provide upon enrollment. Passports and out of state or out of country IDs are fine so long as your ID has a picture. Please know we will work with you upon your arrival at campus to ensure you are connected to our learning community. While this may take a little getting used to, we always aim to make your arrival on campus a positive and welcoming experience for all of you.
School Nurse Reminders
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin a new school year, the health and safety of our students remain our top priority. To help us provide the best possible care, we ask that you notify the school nurse of any medical conditions, allergies, or health concerns your child may have.
Please inform the school nurse if your child has:
Food, medication, insect, or environmental allergies
Asthma or breathing conditions
Diabetes
Seizure disorders
Any chronic medical condition
A need for emergency medication (such as an EpiPen, inhaler, or other prescribed medication)
Any other health concern that may affect your child's school day
If your child requires medication or emergency treatment while at school, please ensure that all required medical forms are completed and returned to the school, along with any necessary medications in their original, properly labeled containers.
Keeping your child's health information up to date allows us to respond quickly and appropriately in the event of an emergency and helps us provide a safe learning environment for all students.
If your child's medical condition or allergy changes during the school year, please notify the school nurse as soon as possible.
I will be available during Meet the Teacher events to help get to know your child's needs and answer any parent questions. Please stop by the clinic on Monday when you are able!
Thank you for your partnership and for helping us keep our students healthy and safe. If you have any questions or need additional forms, please contact the school nurse.
Sincerely,
Sarah Hoover, Campus RN
