Grandview Elementary
Parent/ Family Update - August 1, 2025

August 29, 2025
From the Principal:
Dear Grandview Families,
Our students continue to impress us each day with the way they show their TigerPRIDE—demonstrating Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Excellence in all they do. We are proud of the positive choices they are making in classrooms, hallways, and throughout our school.
This month, classes are also taking their MAP and i-Ready benchmark assessments. These assessments are an important part of how we support student learning at Grandview. We collect this data three times a year because it helps us in several key ways:
-
Data-informed Instruction – Teachers can tailor lessons and strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
-
Supporting Student Success – Assessments help identify areas where students may need extra support so we can provide timely interventions.
-
Formative Assessment Role – They give us real-time feedback that guides instruction and helps students prepare for end-of-year summative assessments.
-
Improving Classroom Practices – By analyzing the data, teachers strengthen their instructional methods and enhance student outcomes.
Consistently gathering this information allows us to monitor progress, celebrate growth, and provide every child with the best possible learning experience.
We will send home a parent report that details your child's results as soon as we complete the assessments. If you have any questions about these assessments or your child’s results, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I am always happy to connect with you.
With Tiger Pride,
Dr. Susan Short
Principal, Grandview Elementary
Upcoming Events:
🌟 Grandparents Day
Grandparents Day is traditionally celebrated in early September each year. This year, we are making it extra special! To ensure we have enough space to welcome all of our wonderful families, we will be postponing the celebration until our brand-new gymnasium is ready.
This beautiful new space will allow us to celebrate together more comfortably and safely. We will share the new date as soon as it is finalized, and we can’t wait to welcome our grandparents and special guests!
