A Note from Mrs. Carter
Hello, Adelaide Families!
October is here, and our Tigers are settling into routines, building friendships, and growing as learners! One of my favorite parts of each day is seeing the little moments that make Adelaide special—a student helping a classmate, a proud smile after tackling something difficult, or an enthusiastic wave in the hallway. Those moments remind us that belonging and learning grow together.
Thank you for partnering with us through daily reading, regular attendance, and conversations about your child’s school day. Try asking, “What’s something you’re getting better at?” You might hear about a new reading skill, a friendship, or a challenge they’re learning to work through.
We’re also excited for the Halloween fun ahead! We love celebrating with our students and seeing their creativity shine. Please review the costume expectations and parade visitor map in this newsletter so everyone can enjoy a safe, comfortable, and happy celebration.
Thank you for helping our Tigers keep Glowing & Growing!

Halloween Parade - Friday, October 30th
We’re so excited for Halloween at Adelaide! We love celebrating with our Tigers and seeing the creativity and joy they bring to the day. Please review our costume expectations together so we can keep the fun safe, comfortable, and welcoming for everyone. We’re also sharing our parade visitor map so families know where to gather outside and catch all our kiddos showing off their cute costumes. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Parents can start lining up beginning at 8:45am. The parade will begin at 9am. In case of incliment weather, we will move inside the lunchroom and gym.

Key Bank & R&R Trunk or Treat!
Two local businesses are hosting a Trunk or Treat and have invited us to join! Families interested in coming need to register by scanning the QR Code so they know how to plan!
6th Grade SHARP Survey Info
Between October 1–30, Adelaide Elementary will administer the Student Health and Risk Prevention (SHARP) Survey to students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12. SHARP has given us insight into what our students are facing for more than 20 years, helping parents know what to talk about with their kids and helping schools, health departments, and community partners better support students.
Only students whose parents gave consent earlier this year, during the registration processes, will take part. Participation is voluntary, students may skip questions or stop at any time without penalty.
All responses are anonymous and confidential. Questions? Contact Mr. Johnson at jarjohnson@dsdmail.hnet or visit the district's Assessment & Surveys page.
For SHARP FAQs and statewide results, visit sumh.utah.gov/data-reports/sharp-survey.

Glowing & Growing!
Celebrating Together
Our Tigers are Glowing & Growing as they learn that progress takes practice! Whether they’re reading a tricky word, working through a math problem, or learning to handle big feelings, each small step matters. At home, try asking, “What can you do now that used to be hard?” Help your child notice their growth and celebrate the effort that got them there.
Building Adelaide Together
A Little Everyday!
A safe, welcoming school grows through small, everyday actions. This month, talk with your child about what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind—at school, at home, and in our community. Ask, “What’s one thing you could do to help someone feel included?” A greeting, an invitation to play, or a helping hand can make a big difference. Thank you for helping us build belonging on purpose!

What Guides Our Work
What guides our work?
We want families to know what sits at the heart of the work we do at Adelaide. Our mission and vision aren't just words on a wall—they reflect what we want every student and family to experience here.
OUR MISSION
We provide students a safe place to achieve their full potential as lifelong learners.
We want every child to feel safe, known, supported, and challenged. When students know they belong, they are ready to take risks, make mistakes, ask questions, and grow.
OUR VISION
Adelaide ensures a thriving environment with high levels of learning for all.
The word all matters to us. Every student comes to us with different strengths, needs, interests, and experiences. Our job is to meet them where they are, help them grow, and make sure every Tiger has opportunities to thrive.
As we begin the year, you'll see these commitments come to life in our classrooms, our relationships, and the way we work together as a school community.
