CTE Connect

The Sebastian River High School CTE programs have been preparing and taking industry certification exams. The Culinary program has displayed the students' certifications in the classroom. 35 Culinary students have earned their ServSafe Certified Food Manager certification.

• 300 students have earned the WordPress certification within their Digital Information Technology course.🖥️💥
• 50 certifications have been earned in the Automotive program.🚗⭐

Many of the certifications can be used as articulated college credit, if students decide to continue their education after high school. In addition, all of the certifications are recognized in the industry, which allows students to prove their skills to potential employers.

Vero Beach High School CNA students 👩‍⚕️had a very successful first semester. Our students have hosted 2 blood drives💉 so far this year and are looking forward to our next blood drive this week. The HOSA students reached out to the community by creating handmade holiday cards and delivered them to the local nursing home. Our most exciting news of the year so far is that we have had 32 students become Certified Nursing Assistants and 26 students are dual certified as Patient Care Technicians! We are excited to see what the future holds for these exceptional students!

👩‍🍳The Baking and Pastry Arts Program is off the ground and running. Students have been learning the proper use of tools and equipment, safety and sanitation, and identifying bakeshop ingredients and their functions.

They will start applying these skills to produce baked goods and will be delivering cookies to the local police department in Vero.

Students have finished their OSHA program, and all have performed service maintenance on HVAC equipment including how to troubleshoot AC problems and repair them. They are learning and preparing for the EPA 608 certification.

🩺The second semester class has just begun and students have learned to obtain basic vital signs. Enthusiastically practicing the newfound skill daily.

The Patient Care Technician students have begun the Advanced Allied Health Assist portion of the Patient Care Technician Program. This portion of the program consists of PCT students attending clinicals daily from 0700-1130. Students are placed in a clinical care area to perform the functions/skills of an EKG technician, phlebotomist, and CNA.👨‍⚕️🩺🩸

Cleveland Clinic is hosting our students for clinicals within the following areas:

The 2024 Practical Nursing class started on January 10, 2024. Students are doing labs to learn and refresh basic skills.

• Students will be competing in our March Madness welding competition starting the 1st week of February.
• Upcoming field trips- Ironworkers Local 402, Colonial Metal Works, Piper, and Hog Technologies.
  
• Students are practicing for their MIG welding Practical test.
  
• 5 students have progressed to TIG welding.
