R • L • H • S EXPECTATIONS
Red Land is proud of our culture and climate, yet we recognize we must continue to grow and nurture our culture. We also recognize expectations must be the same for everyone (students, staff, and families) in order for our culture to thrive and improve.
The R•L•H•S Expectations are expectations designed for ALL constituents of Red Land. This common vocabulary and the R•L•H•S Expectations are outlined below. We will share the R•L•H•S Expectations at our grade level meetings, as well as the commitment to recognize students and staff when the R•L•H•S Expectations have been demonstrated.
Through this framework, along with positive reinforcement and accountability, we want to create a safe learning environment at Red Land.
iPAD ROLLOUT GRADES 10-12
Students in Grades 10 - 12 are invited to pick up their new iPads during their flexes beginning the first week of school.
Make sure to bring your Chromebook and the Charger.
- If you have lost your charger, please bring $10 for the replacement cost (cash or check: West Shore School District), and iPad will not be issued unless one of the requirements is met.
NO CELL PHONES DURING CLASS
- Many studies have shown that cell phones are a major distraction for students in schools. West Shore School District, along with both high schools, believe that students will be able to obtain all the information they need through their new iPads. Therefore, cell phones will no longer be allowed during class time. This will also include any form of headphone.
- Students may still use their cell phones during non instructional times, such as lunches and in between classes. During class time, cell phones cannot be out, so students either need to put them into classroom phone lockers or keep them in their backpacks.
SCHOOL IDS REQUIRED
SCHOOL ID CARDS REQUIRED
Students MUST bring their School ID every day. Students will need them every day for breakfast and lunch, to leave for an appointment, if they arrive late, or if they have senior open campus.

PATHWAYS TO GRADUATION
Our goal is to ensure your child is Enrolled, Enlisted, or Employed when they leave Red Land High School. Our efforts throughout your child's four years at Red Land are to ensure District credit requirements are met, their lifetime goals are explored, and they successfully fulfill all graduation requirements.
Pennsylvania has required students to attain proficiency on the three Keystone Exams. Act 158 provides alternatives to Pennsylvania's statewide requirement of attaining proficiency on the three Keystone Exams:
- Algebra 1
- Literature
- Biology
Five (5) pathways exist for meeting state high school graduation requirements:
- Keystone Proficiency; achieved Proficient or Advanced on all three Keystone exams
- Keystone Composite Score
- Career & Technical Education (CTE) concentrator
- Alternate Assessment
- Evidence-Based
Below are slides that provide an overview of pathways outlined in Act 158. Your child's counselor and Administration will be working with your child throughout your their time at Red Land to ensure they successfully completed a pathway to graduation!

PROCEDURAL REMINDER FOR HOME FOOTBALL GAMES
We are excited to kick off football season at the West Shore Stadium this Friday and want to remind our school community of the procedures in place for home football games.
All elementary and middle school students must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. Unaccompanied elementary and middle school students will not be permitted to enter the stadium.
Unaccompanied Cedar Cliff and Red Land High School students will be asked to present their student ID. We realize they may not have them for the first home game, but as they are issued, the expectation will be that students show them for entry to the game.
Students will not be permitted to gather in groups at the ticket gates and concession areas. The expectation is that all students watch the game from the stands.
Fencing has been placed in the grassy areas of the West Shore Stadium to restrict access to these areas.
Students must also follow the West Shore Stadium Bag Policy. Students should not attempt to bring Chromebooks or other unnecessary items (skateboards, scooters, footballs, large backpacks, etc.) to the stadium.
Generally speaking, re-entry is not permitted to the stadium.
Please remind your children that school sporting events are school functions and student behavioral expectations are the same as when they are in school. Fighting, profanity, bullying, and harassment will not be permitted. Those joining us at the West Shore Stadium should be there to watch the game and to support the football players, cheerleaders, and West Shore Marching Band.
Thank you for taking these matters seriously, and for partnering with us to provide a safe and respectful environment for all members of our school community to spend time together.
