Principal's Pen April 26 , 2024

Dear Julian Curtiss Parents and Families,

As spring unfolds, our school is abuzz with academics, field trips, and events. With this season also comes the Smarter Balanced Assessments for our students in grades 3, 4, and 5. By now, all parents of students in these grades should have received a letter detailing the assessments along with the testing dates. Below, you'll find the schedule for the upcoming week for your convenience. We kindly request that you ensure your child gets plenty of rest and enjoys a nutritious breakfast to support their performance.

More importantly, I'm excited to share that we've welcomed Mr. Eduardo Calderón as the new principal for the 2024-2025 school year. You can read more about his appointment in the press release linked below:

Mr. Calderón will be visiting our school on Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming week. During his visit, he will meet with teachers and students and participate in professional development sessions for teachers in grades K-2. We eagerly anticipate introducing him to our community. On Wednesday, May 1st, at 6 pm, he will be available for a "fireside chat" with the PTA (minus the fire, of course!). We hope you can join us in extending a warm welcome to him.

Please take the time to read the flyers below. We welcome the community to our Art Reception on May 29th as well as a visit to your child's foreign language classroom on May 30th and/or May 31st. We will have a schedule of your child's class in next week's Principal's Pen.

Wishing you a fantastic weekend!

Trish McGuire and Matt Hartigan
