Read Across America Week!
Appropriate Language at MPS
There have been multiple staff who have stated they feel uncomfortable with the language student's family members have used with them. Please be cautious when expressing emotion with MPS staff members. Students and staff do not swear at one another and parents/family members should not swear at staff either. We do understand sometimes emotions are high when there is frustration or concern regarding your children but it is in best interests of students to keep relationships respectful.
Meet Mrs. Kratzke!
Hi! My name is Hilary Kratzke! I teach 1st grade at Minnewaukan. My family moved to Devils Lake 3 years ago and I am from Walk, Mn I have a cat that is named Monet and she is my baby. I love to read, draw, and do crafts at my house. I am very excited for this upcoming year.
Meet Mrs. Westby!
I am Mrs. Westby, the school librarian, and this is my third year at the Minnewaukan School. I also teach reading and phonics which are important for students’ learning. My favorite thing as a librarian is when students get excited about reading books. I love books and we have many wonderful books in our library! This year we have new tables and chairs AND an area to sit in the new comfy loveseat and chairs! I love teaching and this is my 38th year of teaching! We have great students at our school and any time when you greet them and you ask them, “How are you?”, they always say, “Good.” We can learn from them to be more positive and to enjoy each day!
Family Volunteers
If you want to get more involved in the school and volunteer for some opportunities please call MacKenzie Moen to see what opportunities await you! Some of these opportunities include being involved on committees, helping in the classroom, attending field trips, prep work for teachers, etc. Family engagement is essential to student success. We enjoy partnering with our families and thank all of the family members who have volunteered and will continue to do so in the future.
Valentine's Day Activity!
The older elementary students paired up with younger elementary classes to complete a project together. Ms. Moen assisted them in gathering their materials and monitored while they worked together. This is such a great opportunity for our students to learn to work together and younger students to see the older students being role models! Students LOVE doing this! ❤️
