Principal's Message
Ride Families,
We are so excited to share that the Book Fair is ready to go! Students will preview books on Monday and Tuesday, and the excitement is already spreading. Our Challengers can’t wait to pick out books for the upcoming break. A huge thank you to Mrs. Fishman for helping students find books that match their interests and reading levels. When shopping time comes, they will know exactly what to look for. Families may send cash or use the e-wallet option. Details are linked below.
Today we were treated to a beautiful performance from our Knox Orchestra and Choir. They filled the school with holiday cheer and we are so grateful for their talent and for the joy they bring to our school community.
Friday is PJ Day! Students and teachers will wear their comfiest pajamas all day and then enjoy Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland will be on Friday, December 12th from 5 to 7 pm. Our PTO has been working so hard to make this evening magical, and we are so thankful for all their time, effort, and creativity. It is not too late to help. If you would like to volunteer or make a snowflake for decorations, we would love your support.
We hope you will join us for an evening of holiday fun, hands-on activities, and memory-making. And of course, don’t forget to take a picture with Santa! We are so grateful to be part of this wonderful community and cannot wait to celebrate this joyful season together.
With happy hearts and gratitude,
Laura Collins, Proud Principal

Winter Wonderland Snowflake Activity
We invite all students to help us transform our halls into a Winter Wonderland!
A short instructional video is provided below with simple steps for making a beautiful snowflake at home.
Once your child completes their creation, please drop it off at the front office or have your child bring it in.
Thank you for helping make our school sparkle this season!

Lost & Found
Our Lost and Found is filling up! Be sure to stop by and check for any missing jackets, lunchboxes, or water bottles.
Label Your Child’s Belongings
Each year, multiple jackets, lunchboxes, and backpacks end up in the Lost and Found. The best way to ensure your child’s items are returned is to clearly label them with their first and last name.
All unclaimed items will be donated on December 19th.
BOOK FAIR
It’s Book Fair Time
Our Book Fair is December 10th – 16th in the school library. During the week, the Book Fair is open from 7:30 – 3:00. The Book Fair will also be open during Winter Wonderland on December 12th from 5 – 7. Our last day of book fair is Tuesday, December 16th. Thanks for supporting our Book Fair. Profits support our Sally K Ride library.

Thanks for volunteering!
Digital Payment Option for Book Fair
We have a great digital payment option that is highly encouraged for students to use. Parents can set up an eWallet for students, deposit money into it, and students will not have to bring money to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sallykrideelementaryschool
to open up an eWallet account for your child. Any left over money in the eWallet will be put on a gift card for your student to use at future fairs or online. If you have money left over from the last book fair, you can sign in to your eWallet and transfer the money to this book fair.
Teacher Book Fair Wish Lists
Teachers have a wish list of books that they would like for their classroom. If you would like to purchase your child’s teacher a book, each teacher has a box in the book fair with books they would like for their classroom. You can pull a book out of their box and purchase it for them. It is always fun to let your child deliver it as a gift to his/her teacher and classroom.
Thanks for supporting the SKR teachers and the SKR library!
Attendance
Current Attendance Rate 96.81%
Our 24–25 attendance rate was 95.48%, and we’re aiming even higher for 25–26 with a goal of 98%!
At Ride, we want all Challengers to Achieve. A huge part of student success is directly connected to strong attendance. Every day matters, and we want to make the most of every moment we have with our students.
Please help us by scheduling appointments after school whenever possible and ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn each day. Together, we can help our Challengers reach their full potential!
Peek at the Week
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes must be received by 2:00 p.m. Please send all changes of transportation to ridetransportation@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include the date, your child’s full name, homeroom teacher, bus number (if applicable), and the guardian's full name. All emails must be received before 2:00 p.m. If you submit a transportation change by email, it must go to the email address referenced above; transportation changes should not be emailed directly to the teacher. If an emergency arises, please contact 281-465-2800.
Please send a new email for each day the change occurs. We cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; therefore, students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

Community Events
SCHOOL HOURS/ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY
School hours are 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Students must be in their classroom before the 7:55 a.m. bell rings, or they will be considered tardy. Please note that 7:30 a.m. is the earliest time that your child may be dropped off. We do not have staff available to supervise students until that time.
Attendance is vitally important to your child’s current educational growth and future development. Research confirms that attendance is one of the greatest factors contributing to student achievement. Please note that if your child comes in after 9:00 a.m., it will count as an absence unless your child has a medical appointment and brings in a school excuse from the doctor.
Tardy Policy
A student is tardy if not in the classroom at 7:55 a.m. If your child is tardy, parents must sign him/her in at the front office. When a student is tardy, an e-mail will be sent to the student’s guardian for notification.
CPHS Cheer Auction
CPHS Cheer will be hosting a silent auction next week, December 8–12. If you’d like to support our feeder school and place a bid on any of the available items, please use the link below.
BIRTHDAY TREAT GUIDELINES
We love celebrating birthdays at school and welcome birthday treats! To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we ask that families follow the guidelines outlined in the graphic. These guidelines help us manage allergies, classroom time, and school policies. Thank you for helping us make birthday celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone!
LUNCH VISITOR INFORMATION
** Please consider limiting lunch visits to once or twice per month for each student, so that all parents have an opportunity to visit for lunch.
**Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two.
**Students may enjoy lunch with their parents/family only; please do not invite other students to eat lunch with your family.
**Please keep students and other children at the tables with you; do not allow them to run or play during lunch time.
NEW FOR 2025:
**We want to ensure the safety and security of everyone as they enjoy time together while visiting at lunch. If a grandparent or other family member wants to visit your child during lunch, the parent must send in written permission to the front office. The note will only need to be sent in once per school year, and at that time a notation will be made in the visitor system so that the school will have a record of the permission being granted. If a note is not sent, we will call a parent to grant permission before the visitor is allowed to join a student for lunch. Notes can be sent to: cvanloh@conroeisd.net
