Scenes from Memorial Last Week!
April 4, 2022
Good Morning Memorial Families,
As always, I hope you enjoyed the weekend. We are in for a whirlwind week here culminating with what I hope will be a fun community event on Friday night at the Railers’ game!
On Tuesday and Wednesday our third and fourth graders will take the ELA portion of the state MCAS testing. We do not make a huge deal of this with the children, and I encourage you as parents to keep it casual as well. The MCAS assessments should push your children to analyze and synthesize information similarly to what is done in class throughout the year. We use the information gleaned from these tests to help us determine whether our curriculum maps and our instructional practices are effective and to help us make decisions about any tweaks or changes moving forward. For our third graders, taking it for the first time, it will be an opportunity to get first exposure to the online testing format and to become more comfortable with a standardized test. I always encourage students to make sure they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast to make sure their brains are fueled up and ready to go on the test days.
If you have not yet purchased your Worcester Railers tickets for Friday night, please scroll down and do so! It would be wonderful to get most of our school community into the stands supporting our fourth grade chorus together. Please use the QR code at the bottom of the newsletter to purchase your tickets!
And finally, on Friday we held our first in person all school meeting since I began almost two years ago. To say it was emotional is an understatement. For two years I have been leading these meetings with everyone muted, so I’ve never heard them sing the birthday song, or cheer when they see a friend’s picture pop up on the screen for a Positive Office Referral. Being able to be together to celebrate and welcome and greet one another while learning together was a special moment that I will never forget. I cannot wait for next month. Thank you to fourth grade student advisory members Mikayla Caliri and Makayla Pilotte for leading the meeting for us!
Have a wonderful week! Hope to see you on Friday night!
Warmly,
Wendy
