Coyote Connection
Weekly News at Reidy Creek Elementary School 10/31/2025
Dear Families,
It was another busy and exciting week here at Reidy Creek! To kick off Red Ribbon Week, all students attended a BMX Assembly. After reviewing some important bike safety checks, the riders wowed everyone with an incredible performance full of tricks, jumps, and stunts! In addition to their impressive skills, they shared inspiring messages about perseverance, making good choices, and treating others with kindness. It was a high-energy and motivating assembly that reminded us all that with practice and persistence, you can achieve great things—on and off the bike!
Throughout the week, classes also teamed up with their buddy classes to complete Red Ribbon Week activities focused on making healthy choices. Below are some pictures from the week!
On Thursday, we had a very special guest Principal—Damian Self took over my job as Principal for the Day! He led morning announcements, visited classrooms, worked at the Coyote Store, and even read a book to a Kindergarten class. Damian did a fantastic job, and I’m already looking forward to our next student Principal after the Bubble Run next year!
This morning, we wrapped up the week with our annual Halloween Parade on the blacktop. It was such a joy to see our TK–5th grade students cheer one another on as they paraded in their costumes. Thank you to all the families who came out to join the fun!
Have a wonderful weekend, and if you’re celebrating Halloween, I hope you and your family enjoy a fun and safe evening!

Attendance and Tardies
During the month of October, our average daily attendance was 95%! I’m so proud of how our school community is prioritizing attendance and showing up each and every day for school. The following grade levels will be recognized for meeting our 95% goal this month: Kindergarten, second grade, third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade.
Our team will also be reaching out to families with excessive absences to see how we can help support consistent attendance. Last year, our attendance dropped significantly during November and December, so please be mindful when planning trips or other unexcused absences during these months.
While overall attendance has been strong, we’ve noticed an increase in tardies, averaging between 40–50 per day over the past week. Arriving to school on time helps students start their day calmly, connect with friends, and be ready for morning routines and learning. Every minute counts—being on time sets a positive tone for the rest of the day and supports your child’s success. Please do your best to leave the house a few minutes earlier so your child can begin the day ready to learn!
Book Fair
Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair is next week! If you haven't heard which day your class is attending the book fair, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher. If you'd like to preview the book titles that are at the book fair, or set up an E-Wallet for your child, here is the link to the Book Fair Homepage.
We are still in need of parent volunteers to help this event run smoothly!

Donuts with Grown-ups
A family event! Students can visit with Grandparents, Aunts & Uncles, Neighbors or Caregivers Thursday 11/6 after early release until 2:30pm. We will have table activities (wordsearch, coloring, scavenger hunt) in the main library, book fair shelves stocked, and of course, donut holes! Please invite an additional adult to shop with your students, if you plan to volunteer for this fun event.
Canned Food Drive
Please join us in supporting our local EUSD community through Project Success! Reidy Creek will be hosting a Canned Food Drive from November 17–21. We’re hoping to collect non-expired canned goods to help families in need this season.
Donations can be dropped off in the bus loop, in front of the library, or in the front office. Thank you for your generosity and support!
Lost and Found
Parent Enabling Conditions Survey
We invite you to take a few moments to complete the Enabling Conditions Survey, a valuable opportunity to help shape the future of our school community.
Your feedback provides essential data on key aspects of our learning environment. This information allows us to analyze strengths and areas for growth, develop a focused action plan, and track how well that plan supports student success over time. The survey offers side-by-side data comparisons that give us a clear picture of what’s working and where we can improve.
Together, we can ensure every student has the best environment to thrive. Thank you for being a vital part of this important process!

Family Liaison News
As we go into the holiday season, there may be some families facing food, housing or other uncertainties. One of the Family Liaison’s roles is to connect families to community resources, like affordable internet, housing and food resources. In Escondido, there are several community food distributions that occur several times a month. Our neighborhood high school, Escondido High School, will be holding a food distribution on Tuesday, November 4th at 2:30PM, just bring your own bags! If you ever need any other resources or want to know about other distributions like these, please contact Yesenia Martinez, Family Liaison, or call 760-739-5800.
We are also still looking to form an ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) at Reidy Creek. If you are interested to learn more about ELAC, please complete this survey. Thank you to those who have already completed the interest form.
