Dear Washington Families,

Wow—it's hard to believe we're already in the final week of the first quarter! Time truly flies when students and staff are learning and growing together.

A quick reminder: there will be no school on Friday, October 31st, as teachers will be using that day for grading. Report cards will be mailed home the following week.

As we transition from October to November, the mornings are getting darker and the temperatures colder. Please take extra care when traveling to and from school or work. Don’t forget—Daylight Savings Time ends next weekend (November 2nd), so remember to set your clocks back one hour. We’ll gain an extra hour of morning light, though the sun will set earlier in the evening.

With the change in weather, travel times may take a little longer when conditions are wet or icy. In the event of a school closure or delay due to inclement weather, the District will notify families directly and post updates on multiple media channels (see details below).

A friendly arrival and dismissal reminder: please help us keep our students safe by following our traffic patterns, avoiding blocked driveways or lanes, and always prioritizing Safety First. If you have any suggestions or concerns about our safety procedures, don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

We are so grateful for our amazing families, staff, and students who make Washington Elementary such a special place. Let’s keep up the great work and finish the quarter strong!

Also, Stay tuned for information about our YouthTruth survey coming soon.

Go Eagles! 🦅

Warmly,

Alfredo Belanger, Principal

What is happening at Washington? What is happening at Washington?

Afterschool Activities Begin! Afterschool Activities Begin!

What a great start to our After-School Activities offered by our wonderful teachers and staff! We have around 140 students staying after school to participate in enriching activities. From dancing to reading, and from pickleball to singing in choir, there’s something for everyone!

A quick reminder to students and parents: after-school activities are an extension of our school day, and school-wide expectations still apply. If a student experiences ongoing behavior or attendance challenges, we may need to reconsider their participation.

Thank you for supporting these opportunities that help our Eagles learn, grow, and have fun beyond the classroom!

Student of the Month

Congratulations to our Students of the Month! Two students from each grade level were selected by their teachers for showing what it means to be Respectful Eagles—treating others kindly, listening, and making positive choices every day. We’re proud of our students for leading by example and helping make Washington a great place to learn and grow. Go Eagles!

Jogathon Celebration during community time

Last week during Community Time, we celebrated the amazing success of our Jog-a-Thon! Together, we raised funds to support new PE and recess equipment, as well as our end-of-year Field Day celebration. A huge thank-you to all the parents who supported their students by donating or pledging money for the laps they jogged. As a fun reward, our two top-earning students got to choose a staff member to spray with silly string!

Unity day October 22nd

Unity Day is National Bullying Prevention Month's flagship event, celebrated in October. The day calls on all of us to unite in kindness, inclusion, and courage to prevent bullying wherever it may occur. The day places particular emphasis on bullying in schools and online spaces. Many children are bullied in these spaces, and this is what the day aims to eradicate. On average, one in five students between twelve and eighteen are bullied. This number is unacceptable, and Unity Day seeks to bring it down to zero.

Below you will find some photos of students and classrooms participating in the special event.
