Greetings!

Spring is here and we entering our last few weeks of school! We have had a great school year and I am proud of our students and staff. There are many opportunities to keep your students involved this summer. There is baseball, softball, pools, and parks. I would encourage you to check out the Summer Fun in coordination with NPPS Foundation.

There are opportunities through out 4H Extension Office. I would also encourage you to check the NPPS Community Page for Sports Camps. North Platte Parks and Recreation have numerous activities this summer, even if there is construction going on. The best is yet to come!

One area that I would encourage families to focus 10-15 a day is reading. Our Public Library offers a great summer program. Our students were all sent home with over 6 personal books throughout the school year. When you are done reading a book or chapter, here are three key questions to ask and discuss:

  • What was the main problem in the story, and how was it solved?
  • Which character did you like best, and why?
  • What lesson or message do you think the story was trying to teach?

Thank you for making my first year serving as your Principal a great one!

Educationally,

Dr. Tami Eshleman

North Platte Public Schools believes in the importance of children being in school. Jefferson Elementary will be monitoring building, grade, classroom, and individual student's attendance. We are gifted with prizes for students who maintain less than Five or More Absences. We also recognize students with Perfect Attendance. This year we are monitoring our Monthly Absences by Grade, please make sure your students are coming to school.

If your child will not be in school, please call the office before 8:00am. If students are seen by a medical professional, please provide a note to the office. Students who miss more than 10 days are required to have an Attendance Meeting with Principal and Parents. As required by state statute, student who are chronically absent will have a referral sent to the County Attorney.

Students who have a temperature above 100* will be sent home and will not be able to return until they have been fever free for 24 hours.

Attendance Goal Attendance Goal

North Platte Public Schools works collaboratively with families to ensure that students are in school. Jefferson has 95.35% attendance rate for the school year. Excellent job parents getting your students to school. We strive to be above 95% as a school. If your family is facing barriers to get your child to school, please don't hesitate to reach out to Dr. Eshleman, Mrs. Fleck, or Mrs. Hahn so that we can get you in touch with community resources to help.

Mrs. Fleck does a great job of recognizing students for attendance goals and behavior expectations. We will be posting our April Class with the best attendance soon!

Jefferson Elementary Breakfast and Lunch Jefferson Elementary Breakfast and Lunch

Jefferson Elementary participates in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). CEP schools provide free breakfast and lunch to schools. We are fortunate to provide this resource to families. If students bring their own lunch and want to buy a milk, they must bring $0.50. Some students want to have a second entrée, parents would have to provide funds for additional entrées.
