Region Band Music and Professional Recordings
Region music for all instruments can be found at the link below. Please make sure you are looking at Year A and reading the cover sheet to see if there are cuts to your instrument's etudes.
Here is a link to practice videos from the Dallas Winds to help students practice for Region Band. Each instrument folder contains a sample performance of the music, a video to play along with at separate, slower tempos, and a talk about how to approach the audition.
Grades
Next week is week 6 of the school year. At the end of week 6, the first eligibility check will happen. Students who are failing a class at the end of the day on Friday, October 2nd will become ineligible at the end of the school day on October 9th.
Parents, please check your students' grades and contact their teachers if you have any questions. The band staff is committed to making sure our students pass their classes. Tutoring is permitted on practice days as long as students bring a pass from tutoring when they were done.
Here are some important bullet points about Eligibility in regards to extracurricular activities such as marching band.
- A student who fails on the 6 week or 9 week progress report / report card will be ineligible to travel with / perform with the band.
- Grades are determined based on the "snapshot" taken at the end of the day on these days. If a student turns in an assignment afterward or does test corrections, the "snapshot" is not changed- the student is still failing
- Most students who fail are failing because of 0's in the gradebook- missing assignments
- Teachers are much more likely to work with you to help you with makeup work if you communicate absences ahead of time
- No pass, No play is a statewide rule that affects all extracurricular activities. No exceptions will be made to UIL No pass, No Play.

Payment Info
We are currently troubleshooting an issue with PayK12, our online payment system. I will send out payment details to the band when this issue is resolved. In the meantime, the link to payment in the newsletter has been removed. Please do not make any payments using PayK12 until things are fixed as it may create more work for us while we try to solve the issue. If you need to make a payment, we accept cash or checks made out to Davenport HS Band Boosters.
Please note that the link to PayK12 from previous newsletters may still be active and may even allow you to complete a transaction. This does not mean that the system is working properly. I will send an email when this issue is resolved, and I will include an updated link in the newsletter.
Presto balances should now be up to date. Thank you for your patience!
