New Uniforms @ SACS

Effective 2027-28

New Uniforms @SACSEffective 2027-28

As previously announced, with our upcoming school name change, (coming fall of 2027) we are thrilled to announce an update to our K-8 uniform policy designed to bring greater unity to our student body! We have listened closely to your feedback over the years. Many parents expressed frustration that the current policy has too many confusing options, and that items like navy apparel could not be transitioned from 5th grade into Middle School.

To solve this, a dedicated uniform committee of teachers, alongside our School Advisory Committee, worked together to streamline our dress code.

What you need to know about the timeline:

  • Fall 2027 Implementation: The new uniform policy will not officially go into full effect until the Fall of 2027.

  • The 2026-2027 "Grandfather Year": This upcoming school year will serve as a transition period. Both the current uniform code and the new uniform code will be fully permitted.

  • Summer Shopping Guide: If your child needs new uniform pieces this summer, we highly recommend purchasing items that align with the new uniform code. However, if you have older items that still fit or hand-me-downs, your children are welcome to wear them this coming year.

Please see the below graphic for a visual of options for your student(s).

Uniform Q&A Uniform Q&A

Why the change in uniform options?

These changes come from several factors. A couple of years ago, we did a parent survey and heard back that there were too many options and that what's allowed was not clear. Parents also shared that the existing graduation from navy to black for middle school was inconvenient, as navy options couldn't be worn from 5th grade to 6th grade. We were also told by Donalds Uniforms that we were the only school using our navy plaid and that it was going to be discontinued. Those factors caused us to form a uniform committee that then met and worked out all the logistics, when it would happen, which options would be approved, etc.

Will our existing uniforms work for the 26/27 year?

Yes, all of our existing options; navy bottoms, navy plaid, navy and grey sweatshirts, and non logo'd white polos will be acceptable for next year's school year. If your kiddos have outgrown any of their current school uniforms, we encourage you to purchase the new options so that they can hopefully get more wear out of them.

Do all uniform items have to be purchased from Donalds directly?

No, black bottoms can be purchased from any retailer of your choosing. They do have to comply with SACS uniform guidelines. Cargo pants/shorts, sweatpants and jeans are not permitted. Solid maroon crewneck cardigan for girls K-8, can also be purchased from any retailer of your choosing.

Can K-5 wear solid black skirts?

No, the solid black or khaki options are limited to our Middle School girls.

What about outerwear for the colder months?

For the 26/27 school year, you are welcome to use existing outerwear (navy, grey, black and maroon). Starting with the 27/28 school year, outerwear will include black and maroon logo’d crew sweatshirts and a black logo’d ¼ zip for all grades K-8. A solid maroon crewneck cardigan will also be an option for girls K-8.

Do all school polos have to be branded?

For the 26/27 school year, all maroon polos must be logo'd, but the plain white ones are still an option. Starting with the 27/28 school year, both maroon and white polos will need to be branded.

Donalds has more than one type of polo listed?

Yes, while the above graphic only shows the colors, there really two options for each colored polo. The traditional polos and the banded polos. Banded polos have an elastic band at the bottom, that helps shirts to look tidy without having to be tucked in.

What about the name change?

While our name is expected to change in the future, our cross logo will remain with only the words underneath being updated. Because of that, we anticipate a much longer grandfather period on that change, since the physical uniforms will remain the same.

What can we do with old uniform options?

We want to be stewards of the world and encourage you to donate uniforms that no longer fit your kiddos or the uniform policy. If you have navy uniform options that are still in good condition, we will be doing a collection for a fellow catholic school in our archdiocese. Navy pants, shorts, and skirts may continue to be worn on Mondays with 400 Club shirts, on Fridays with Marathon shirts, and on other designated spirit wear or non-uniform days. Additionally, these items can certainly continue to be worn outside of school, including to church or other activities
