Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families!
We have completed another great week here at Hembree! The time change made this past week especially challenging for many of us. I kindly ask for your continued support in helping ensure that students arrive at school on time each day. Losing an hour of sleep can certainly put us all on the struggle bus, but with a little consistency, we are hopeful that everyone will be back on track very soon. Thank you in advance for your partnership and support—it truly makes a difference for our students.
A huge shout-out to our amazing parents who worked tirelessly to make our annual auction such a success! We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and dedication you invested in supporting our school community. Your efforts truly make a difference for our students and staff. Please see below for details on the total funds raised, along with a list of our outstanding volunteers who helped make this event possible.
We are excited for our Annual Talent Show on Thursday, March 19th at 6:00 PM! It’s always a joy to see the many talents of our students and staff, and we hope to see you there.
The deadline to purchase a yearbook is quickly approaching. If your child would like one, please be sure to order by March 20th. We do not order extra copies, so purchasing before the deadline is essential. Thank you for your understanding.
Please join us for our Title I Family Input Meeting on March 17th at 7:40 AM in the media center, or you can attend virtually on Teams at 5:15 PM. Your input is important and appreciated. More information can be found on the flyer below.
Please remember that Monday, March 16, is a professional development day for our teachers. Students will not have school on this day. We hope you enjoy the long three-day weekend, and we look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Warm Regards,
Nancy Lahey

Silent Auction Raises $13,000!
Wow, Hawks! What an incredible moment for our community!
Thanks to the generosity of our families, staff, and local supporters, our PTA Together We Soar Silent Auction raised an amazing $13,124 for our school!
A special thank you to everyone who collaborated on putting together this big endeavor. This auction is five months in the making and our largest fundraiser. We can't wait to begin planning all the great things we are going to support at Hembree.
Volunteers and donors included:
Zemen Mesner, Milica Jeremic, Ashley Zuniga, Whippoorwill Holdings, Cait Santinelli, Kate Humboldt, Lauren LaFleur, Emily Tretinik, Krista Krish, Janet Pelletier, Ali Pottlitzer and Michelle Dusombre.
We’re also so grateful to the teachers and staff who donated School Experiences—these are always some of the most exciting items for our students!
And a huge shoutout to our local business community, who really showed up for the kids of Hembree Springs. Please remember to support the businesses that support our school whenever you can.
This kind of generosity is what makes our community so special. When Hawks come together, we truly soar!
Auction pickup for physical items was held Thursday and Friday, but if you were unable to make those times and still need to get your items, please email Lucy Gilbert at gilbertL2@fultonschools.org to come during school hours.
Certificates and experiences that were able to be emailed, have been emailed, so check your inboxes/spam/junk folders. Email subject line read "SILENT AUCTION WINNING ITEM." Teachers have all been notified of the winners for School Experiences and will be in touch if they haven't already.

Parents, We Need Your Input!

🕗 7:40 AM – In Person (Media Center)
💻 5:15 PM – Virtual on TEAMS

Parent feedback in past meetings helped create some of our favorite school events, including International Night, the Learning Celebration, and Parent ESOL classes. Your voice really does make a difference!
If you can’t attend, please take a moment to complete the Parent Input Survey. Right now only 30 surveys have been completed, and we need at least 100 responses.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) will also use this feedback to help guide programming for next school year, so we truly value your thoughts and ideas.
Thank you for helping make Hembree Springs even better for our students and families! 💙
Elkins Pointe Middle School PTSA Board Open Position
The Elkins Pointe Middle School PTSA Board needs your help in finding our Auction and Community Partnerships Chair for the 2026-27 school year.
The Auction and Community Partnerships Chair leads the efforts that make many of our student programs, teacher grants and school events possible.
This role oversees the annual PTSA silent auction, our primary fundraiser, and coordinates any additional fundraising initiatives during the year. The chair works with a small team of volunteers to gather auction items, connect with local businesses and help plan a successful event.
Why it matters:
The funds raised directly support teachers, students and programs that enrich the experience at Elkins Pointe. If you enjoy organizing projects, building relationships with local businesses and working with a team to make something successful, this is a rewarding way to make a meaningful impact at the school!
If you have a rising 6th grader or current EPMS student and are interested in learning more, please email epms.ptsa@gmail.com.

Collaborative Problem Solving
Another one of the student success skills students are developing this year is collaborative problem solving. Being a collaborative problem solver means you can work with others to solve a problem.
Collaborative Problem Solving is working with others to solve a problem or to generate ideas to complete a task. Students will practice solving problems together, learn about the importance of being a cooperative member of a group, and how to peacefully resolve conflicts.
Younger students arguing over toys can work together to come up with ideas on how to share or take turns.
Older students working on a science project together may decide to divide tasks and materials and agree on different roles and responsibilities. They will learn to listen to others’ ideas.
Being able to solve disputes peacefully with other people is an important life skill to practice when young!

Beanstack Reading App
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
