Message from Principal Daliposki
Last week was the World Kindness Week. It is an event celebrated annually since 1998, when the World Kindness Movement initiated the first World Kindness Day - over 28 nations take part in this movement. World Kindness Day has evolved and expanded, and now we celebrate an entire week of kindness. World Kindness Week takes place during the second week of November, starting on Monday and ending on Sunday. This month, students are writing gratitude notes for their classmates and staff, which are then read out loud during the morning announcements.
We are thrilled to announce that starting the week of December 3rd, we will be starting school clubs, and all students are invited to participate. School clubs will provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn new skills, develop friendships, and have fun! If you are interested in enrolling your child in any clubs, you will complete the form that will be sent home with families by November 27th. Please be advised that space is limited.

A Message from Ms. Becco, Parent Coordinator
Dear Falcon Families.
The holiday season is upon us and although this time of year, can become stressful and hectic with all the planning and shopping. I urge you to STOP, take a deep breath and remember the purpose of the holidays. Take time to rest and reflect on where you are today. How your family is doing? Where you were last year at this time? Regardless of your circumstances, I’m sure there is something you are thankful for. Reflect on that thing and be joyful, as we make our way to the new year and a new beginning.
I have some dates I need you to save and some events and meetings for you to attend, but please refer to the school's calendars for a more complete listing of events.
Happy Thanksgiving
Ms. Becco

Engaging Our Families to be Out True Partners from Chancellor David C. Banks
Dear New Yorkers,
I hope this message finds you all surrounded by warmth and community spirit. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to share my gratitude to our families for choosing NYC Public Schools, and to our NYCPS staff for their dedication to our families.
I believe our shared vision for our children—Bright Starts and Bold Futures—is deeply rooted in the collective strength of our families and school communities. That's why engagement is the cornerstone of everything we do. Families: your involvement is not just important; it's essential.
Consider NYC Reads, our initiative to transform the way we teach reading. In our Phase 1 districts, we're excited to partner with families through local literacy events, and in Phase 2 districts, which will implement NYC Reads next school year, family and community voices are shaping critical curriculum decisions. We're also sharing activities and resources with families across the city to bolster reading skills at home. This past summer, over 1,000 families joined us for sessions on our new Early Childhood curriculum, and these sessions are continuing throughout the school year.
In our work on college and career pathways, parent leaders have been instrumental in guiding the launch of FutureReadyNYC and our Modern Youth Apprenticeships. Our Family and Community Engagement team and Office of Student Pathways have also led family focus groups to ensure our resources, like the college and career page in NYCSA, are helpful and meaningful.
At NYCPS, we value parent leadership at both the school and citywide levels. Did you know every parent or guardian is automatically a member of their school's Parent Association or Parent Teacher Association? Families: your voice matters! I encourage you to connect with your school to get involved and to learn about other school-based engagement opportunities, such as School Leadership Teams, School Wellness Councils, and Title 1 Representatives.
At the citywide level, the Chancellor’s Parent Advisory Council (CPAC) and our 36 Community and Citywide Education Councils (CECs) also offer platforms for family voice. (We even have CEC seats available for our high school seniors, who can apply here.) I’m always inspired by the engaging and insightful discussions at our CEC Town Halls, and I warmly invite you all to join our upcoming CEC and CPAC meetings this winter.
I want to again thank each of you—families, staff, and community members—for your deep commitment and partnership. Together we are building bright starts and bold futures for our students, so every child can meet their full potential. I am honored to do this work alongside you.
Soaring high.
David C. Banks
Western Queens Triple "P" Program
The Positive Parenting Program has provided us with several wonderful and helpful parenting workshops in both English and in Spanish. A couple of the great topics were "Dealing with Disobedience" and "Developing Good Bedtime Routines". We have a couple of more sessions before its over. If you have not taken advantage of this evening zoom meeting, I suggest you give it a try. We have the workshop "Managing Fighting and Aggression" and Hassle Free Shopping with kids. For more information see the school's website.
All Kindergarten Families and new NYC Public School System Grade 1 & 2 Families
Dear Parents/Guardians:
In school year 2023-2024, every kindergarten, first grade, and second grade student enrolled in NYC public schools is eligible to participate, no matter their family income or immigration status.
The NYC Kids RISE Save for College Program provides families, schools, and communities with a way to work together to save for their children’s futures. It’s a scholarship and savings program designed to make college and career training more accessible and achievable for all NYC public school students, starting in kindergarten.
By providing upfront scholarships for every eligible student, tools and information for families to develop their own college and career savings plans, and a way for entire communities to invest in their children, the Save for College Program enables all of us to work together to build assets and support expectations of educational and economic success for every child.
Good news! If your child is eligible, they will be automatically enrolled in the Save for College Program unless you choose not to participate and opt out. As long as you take NO ACTION during the Opt-out Process, your child will be automatically enrolled and receive a free NYC Scholarship Account. If you do not wish to participate, please visit the NYC Department of Education website for more instructions on how to opt out.Families have 30 days to opt out if thet dont want to be included in the program and have their student's data shared with NYC Kids RISE.

Resetting Password
Resetting your child's Google password tutorial
Resetting your child’s Google Classroom Email Password.
- Go to the Department of Education website: schools.nyc.gov
- Scroll down to the Technology for Families section and click onto STUDENT tab.
- Click onto the menu option: Resetting your child’s password and then under that will be the instructions to create a pin for the account. You will need your child’s osis number and you can get that from your child’s teacher or even the main office. Ms. Becco can give it to you also, just email her at sbecco@schools.nyc.gov.
- After changing the password and creating a pin, go back to the homepage and click "teachhub" on the top right side of the toolbar. You may or may not have to sign on again.
- A remember that the username is everything before the @ symbol in the email address and the password is case sensitive.
- Once you get into the teachhub, you may not see much, and if that is the case, you should then click on the heading that includes your child’s grade, next to the Welcome.
- You will then see a host of apps that your child may need access to, for example: Google Classroom, Zoom, Google Meet, Gmail, etc.
