FLEX Time at Hansen Junior and Senior High School FLEX Time at Hansen Junior and Senior High School

We are excited to introduce a new opportunity for our students: FLEX time! This dedicated 30-minute period, built into the master schedule between 5th and 6th hour, allows teachers to provide both intervention and extension activities. FLEX time is designed to help all students achieve their academic goals, offering tailored support for those who need additional help and advanced learning opportunities for those ready to excel. Our goal is to ensure every student finds success and reaches their full potential through this innovative program.

πŸŽ“Senior Trip Committee πŸŽ“Senior Trip Committee

We are creating a senior trip committee to help create guidelines for senior trips. Feedback from parents and the community is extremely important in this decision making process which may include the amount of money spent, locations to travel, etc. Currently we would like at least one parent from each grade level. We would like to schedule a meeting with the committee ASAP so the agreed upon plan can be communicated with senior students and advisors. For more information please contact Mrs. Carter.

Please complete this form if you are interested.

Policy 3380- Extracurricular and Co-Curricular Participation

The school board has officially approved new wording for policy 3380 and is effective immediately. For students to be eligible to participate in extracurricular or co-curricular activities the policy states:

1. To be academically eligible, a student must have satisfactorily (60% or higher) completed 5 out of 7 classes the preceding quarter.

2. Students must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 4 out of 7 classes).

3. Students participating with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 must have an academic improvement plan in place as developed by the local school district. This plan must include monitoring, additional assistance, time provided for assistance, and an appropriate timeline. (The number of students with an academic improvement plan will be reported on the Eligibility Verification Report).

4. Students must be on target to graduate based on State Board of Education requirements. Being not "on target to graduate by State Board of Education requirements" means a student not having the necessary number of credits to graduate with their class through the normal school day program must have a graduation plan that provides for receiving a diploma by the end of the summer following their senior year to be eligible for activity participation. (The number of students with a graduation plan will be reported on the Eligibility Verification Report.)

5. An incomplete or conditional grade received at the end of a semester counts as a failure until the deficiency is removed.

6. For students enrolled in an approved special education program in which the IEP is the standard of measurement for progress toward graduation, the district shall verify that the student is making satisfactory progress and meeting the standards of the IEP.

The end of first quarter is on October 10th, and grades will be checked on Monday, October 14th.
