Dear Families,

We’ve been grateful for the continued nice weather this week! Earlier in the week, we practiced our lockdown drill, and our students and staff did an excellent job following our updated procedures using the Standard Response Protocol. Today our students learned about bus safety during our bus safety drill.

Next week, students will attend school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. There is no school for students on Thursday and Friday as we look forward to connecting with parents during parent-teacher conferences.

Parents/Guardians - Please check our lost and found when you come for conferences! It is already overflowing.

Student safety remains a top priority in District 25. All schools are safe and welcoming for every student and family, with district procedures in place to support students’ safety and learning in the event of any ICE-related incident. The district will continue to share information with families to reinforce our commitment to keeping students safe.

Save the Date - Thursday, November 6th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Our 3rd Annual Multicultural Night is coming up on Thursday, November 6th, from 6:00–7:30 p.m., and we can’t wait to celebrate the many cultures that make our OMS community so special!

We’re still looking for a few more families to participate — we need about 10–12 families to make this wonderful event possible. Hosting doesn't have to be hard - you might create a poster to share, teach students a game that is played in another culture or country, show a video or picture slideshow, or display clothing. You will be partnered with an OMS staff member who will also have an activity that can be completed in your room. Can we count on you?

Today is the last day to sign up before we make a final decision on whether we can move forward with the multicultural portion of the evening.

Please click the link below for information related to Halloween 2025 at the Nest! You will find information about parade times, routes, costume guidelines, etc. ALL students are required to have a completed permission slip.

We will adjust our lunch hour on Friday, October 31st. All students staying for lunch will eat from 12:30 - 1:00 p.m and change into costumes from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Our parade will begin around 1:40/1:45 p.m.

Halloween Permission Slip 2025 - One must be filled out for EACH child. **Your child's teacher will reach out directly if you have not yet signed the permission slip.
