We Could Do It!
Our Pierce family extends a thank you to the anonymous donor that allowed us to once again experience NHDI. Students had an amazing week dancing. They CAN do many things.
Pierce Craft Fair Returns
Hello!
It’s that time of year again! We are getting ready for our annual Pierce PTO Craft Fair, and we would LOVE to have you!
Our craft fair is always such a fun day of gathering our community, shopping local, and getting a jump start on holiday shopping. And, of course, our raffle is always a HUGE hit! All the raffle and table proceeds go right back to our students, helping support field trips, activities, and other things our school needs throughout the year.
Vendor spaces are $25 per space + one donated item for our PTO raffle. Bring your own table (up to 8 ft.), and vendors may begin setting up at 9:00 AM Saturday morning.
To reserve your space, just send us an email!
Hope to see you there!

Have a Question? Want some tips and tricks to support your child?
Adventure Reading Back Packs are going home today for Grades K and ! - Please know that you can keep the bags for 2 - 3 weeks. If you need more time, just let us know. If you get them done earlier- great! When your child returns the bag another student can get a turn with that bag. Thanks.
Happy Reading and Crafting !!
FYI - Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up in less than two weeks. Did you know that one of my Title l offerings is to help families understand the academic testing reports that we send home throughout the year? If you have questions about your child's reports please pop into the Title l classroom when you come for your conference and I will be happy to help you understand the reports. I am also available to coach families so that they can work at home with their children. If you would prefer, please reach out to me through my school email at apope@conval.edu and schedule yourself a time to meet and discuss what you can do at home to help support your child's learning at school.
Thanks for all of Your Support and Work at Home with your children. Mrs. Pope
Exploring Our World
A Spooktacular Week
Kindergarten had a spooktacular week! We had so much fun with our Halloween-themed word work while continuing to work hard and build our skills. We also showed off our amazing leaps and jumps during our NHDI program! To top it all off, we had a wonderful week making music and memories with Mrs. Nielssen.
Powerful Learning with Mrs. Powell
The Circulatory System and Nervous System
In first grade this week we learned about the circulatory system and the nervous system. We colored and labeled some brains and turned them into fun headbands! We also practiced putting short sentences and phrases together and writing them down. In math we looked at some story problems and compared the different ways we can answer using both addition and subtraction! NHDI was a highlight of the week and we had a blast getting to dance every day!
Great Things in Garland's Garden
Sparking Second Graders
The second graders were definitely sparkling during NHDI dance class this week! Harvesting the veggies, preparing them and then eating a yummy salad was so fun on our last day of Cornucopia. In the classroom, the class practiced different ways to add and subtract two digit numbers. "Decompose" is our fancy vocabulary word. For our ELA skills time, we have moved to reviewing and learning long vowel sounds, starting with the "magic-e". Ask your child about our new reader Bedtime Stories.
A Word From Mrs. G
Story Tellers in Grades 3 & 4
In 3rd grade, we finished Unit 1 in the CKLA reading program. We learned LOTS of new vocabulary words in our first unit, Classic Stories. We finished excerpts from The Wind and the
Willows and Alice in Wonderland. We worked on phonics skills and talked about themes found in the story. We also wrote opinion essays. One opinion essay was about which character showed a chosen theme and the other was which character was their favorite in The Wind in the Willows.
In 4th grade, we finished Unit 1 - Personal Narratives. We read personal narratives and wrote narratives about a favorite food which included many sensory details and a personal narrative that shared a memorable event with a focus on adding explicit details they remembered about the event.
Of course, NHDI this week was amazing. To watch the 3rd and 4th graders work as a team to put their performance together was a wonderful experience.
Week two of Sewing Club was a blast!
Have a nice weekend!
