Principal's Corner

Wow, the school year is already moving quickly at Minnewaska Elementary! We're loving this warm weather for our playground and the routines we've created! The next month is always full of fun kicking off with Fire Prevention Week, conferences, MEA and some fall fun to end it.

With that said, there are a couple dates to make sure you have on your calendar. We have staff inservice on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th. Monday, SEPT 30th is STAFF ONLY day and students can enjoy an early fall day at home. Our elementary staff will be focused on our Science of Reading principles and trainings. Also, October 16-18th there is NO SCHOOL for fall conferences and MEA break.

We always look forward to connecting individually with families to share data, set goals and review how the start of the year has gone. Conferences are from 3:30-7:30 on Monday, October 7th and from 7:30-3:30 on Wednesday, October 16th.

Fall fun happens in each classroom and differs by grade level. Make sure to watch for your child's newsletter for further directions.

Winter Weather

Like it or not, we're nearing the colder weather. Make sure to start collecting boots, hats, snowpants and gloves! The United Way of Pope and Douglas County does have a few days you can pick up Winter Wear for any age if that's a need for you or your family. You can learn more here.

PICTURE RETAKE DAY-OCTOBER 9, 2024

Picture retake codes are the same as before and will happen on Wednesday, October 9th. Please send your child's teacher a note if you would like your child to participate.

Fire Prevention Week Oct. 7-11

All preschool through 3rd grade classrooms will be participating in various activities with our local firemen during Fire Prevention Week. Watch for more information from your child's classroom teacher.

Extra Clothing

Having an extra set of clothing in your child's locker can be super helpful for your child for all kinds of reasons. At times, a big spill, a lost sock in a snow bank [we're not making this up :)] or an accident can make the day pretty tough.
