Dear Presentation Families,
We have a busy and exciting weekend ahead of us! I'm looking forward to spending this Sunday with the Presentation Community!
I hope to see many familiar faces in the pews at the 9am Mass as we celebrate our first All School Mass of the year together. This is such a wonderful way to gather and give thanks to the Lord for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us as a school and church family as well as a nice way for us to show the Presentation parishioners that so faithfully support our school gratitude for all they do. Please make an effort to attend if you can.
Sunday afternoon is the Panther Classic Golf Tournament! We hope to have a lovely day out on the course enjoying good company and raising funds for our wonderful school. Thanks to everyone that puts in so much work to make this event possible each year. Your efforts are truly appreciated!
For this week's family faith activity, as you put your children to bed trace the sign of the cross on their forehead and say, "May God bless and keep you tonight." During dinner or in the car you can also discuss this question: What does it mean for Jesus to be the center of our family?
Have a lovely weekend, I hope to see many of you!!
Sincerely,
Barb Kearn, Principal
Our of Uniform Pass Booklets
If you purchased an Out of Uniform Pass Booklet at the Back to School Open House, it is coming home with your child(ren) TODAY in the Communication Envelope. They are somewhat small so please make sure you look in the envelope for them! If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Davini in the office at mdavini@presentationofmary.org.
Halloween Party Planners Needed!
Our annual school Halloween Party is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th. We are in need of some volunteers to work with the School Family Organization (SFO) to help organize it! To learn more about SFO and what it is, see the section directly below this one. If you are interested in getting in on the planning fun for the Halloween Party, reach out to SFO Chair, Mercedes Martin, at 651-500-5683 or mernst56@yahoo.com.
And remember, these events don't happen without people being willing to step up and help plan them, so please consider being one of those awesome people!
No Bus October 2
District 622 is not in session on Friday, October 2nd, so there will be NO bus service that day. Please plan accordingly!
School Attendance Information
If your child is going to be absent from school for part of or the entire day, please let the office and/or their teacher know when and why as soon as you are able. Tracking attendance is a very important (and legal) obligation we have.
Excused absences include:
- Sickness
- Doctor appointment
- Religious holiday
- Extreme family emergency
All other absences are considered unexcused.
If a student arrives between 8:30-9:30am, they are considered tardy. If they are more than 60 minutes late, it is considered a half day unexcused absence unless it is due to one of the excused reasons listed above.
Socktober
During the month of October, our Donuts & Devotionals group will be holding a Socktober drive to collect socks for those experiencing homelessness. Any families that wish to donate to this cause can send in new pairs of socks with their students and have them bring the socks to
Ms. Hennessey's classroom. We will begin collecting them now through Friday, October 30th.
School Pictures
School picture day is Thursday, October 8th. Students may come out of uniform that day. Parents will get an email directly from our Photography company, Slow Road, after pictures are taken regarding how to order photos. If your student is absent that day, retake day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th.
Presentation's Discovery Center Updates
Our Discovery Center students had another great week learning all about apples and the fall season! All of our classes enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities including: Apple taste testing ( they got to try: Red, yellow & green apples and decide what they like the most) They also got to paint apples and leaves, pretend to shop at a farmers market and the apple farm, and playing fall-themed bingo.
Additionally, our older students worked on their fine motor skills through hole-punching activities. It was a fun-filled week of learning, exploring, and creating!
We are still looking for a part-time teacher's aide to help out Monday through Friday 3:00-5:00pm. This shift is perfect for a high school student who loves working with children. If you know anyone who might be interested in this position, please have them reach out to Susie Wolter (susiewolter@ladcfamiles.org).
