Jet Families,
Dear ACES Families,
Welcome back from fall break! We hope your family enjoyed time to rest, recharge, and have a little fun together.
As we settle back into our routines, we’re helping children learn to use their voices to express their needs and emotions while treating others with respect. Consistent language at home and school helps build these skills.
A simple, lighthearted response to disrespectful language is, “Let’s try that again with respect.” This gives children a chance to try again without shame or embarrassment.
Another phrase we use is, “Use your words.” When a child screams, throws something, or struggles to express a feeling appropriately, we can calmly offer words to practice: “I’m frustrated. I need help,” or “I’m still using that. Please give it back.” Modeling a sentence gives children language they can repeat and use again.
These are learning moments. Children learn best when we clearly explain what we expect, show them how, and give them opportunities to practice. Together, we can help our children confidently express their needs and emotions while respecting those around them.
Thank you for partnering with us!

Costume Guidance
Students are permitted to dress in costume on Friday, October 30, provided they follow these guidelines:
- Costumes should be comfortable and appropriate for recess, special class, and daily work in the classroom.
- Face paint may be worn if it is minimal (a dot for a red clown nose, animal whiskers, etc.)
- No Masks
- Costumes should not include weapons, blood, or represent violent characters.
- Blow up costumes are not permitted.
- Students may be asked to change or remove costumes/accessories if they interrupt individual or classroom learning.
Fall Weather
We have been extremely fortunate with the weather so far this fall, but please keep in mind that temperatures will probably drop over the coming weeks. Ensuring that our students have appropriate clothing for cooler weather is important for making those days the best they can be! As the cooler temps come our way, make sure to send coats, hats, and gloves to help your students stay warm upon arrival, dismissal, and while playing at recess.

BULLY PREVENTION WEEK
This week is Bully Prevention Week, and our counselors have done a wonderful job teaching our children about treating one another well, including understanding the difference between a “mean moment” and “bullying behavior.”
The infographics below explain our school expectations and offer ways families can partner with us. Using consistent language at home and school—and giving children opportunities to practice kindness, speak up, and seek help—helps them become strong, confident children who care for themselves and others.
Thank you for being our partners!
