WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE LJH LIBRARY?
As we turn the page on a new year, our library continues to shine as the educational heart of our school! From dynamic whole-class lessons to the quiet hum of students reading and studying independently, the library is alive with learning and discovery. New books are flying off the shelves as students dive into fresh adventures, explore different worlds, and expand their horizons. It’s inspiring to see our students embrace the joy of reading and use the library as a hub for both academic and personal growth.
Looking ahead to February, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting event: Blind Date with a Book! This program invites students to choose a wrapped mystery book based only on a few clues—such as genre, themes, or a short teaser—without seeing the title or cover.
How it works:
Each book is carefully selected and wrapped in paper, with a brief set of hints written on the outside (for example: fast-paced, sports connection, friendship, or plot twist ending).
Students “go on a date” by checking out the book purely on curiosity, stepping outside their usual reading preferences.
We’re hoping the surprise reveal adds excitement and often leads students to discover authors or genres they might not have chosen otherwise.
