Click on the link below to learn about the TEA 2025 Rating for DCMS.
What's Crockett's Student Attendance Rate?
The district goal for student attendance is 95.00%.
For the week of, 2/17/26-2/20/26, Crockett met the district goal for attendance because we had an attendance rate of 95.04%. This was a slight dip from last week, but we still met the district attendance goal. Let's continue to level up Mavs!
The FBISD middle school that had the highest attendance rate for this same week had a percentage of 97.75% students in attendance.
DCMS, let's continue to elevate and shoot for a student attendance rate of
98.00% and higher each week.
Save the Date: March Spring Open House
Our Annual Spring Open House will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Our evening will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m., and conclude at 7:30 p.m.
During the Open House event, parents will have an opportunity to:
- Visit teacher classrooms to gain more insight about how to support their child in a successful conclusion to the 2025-2026 school year, while also establishing a strong start to the 2026-2027 school year.
- Connect with teachers of Electives courses.
- Attend a Band Performance.
Please be sure to come out and join us. TOGETHER, we can give all students meaningful middle school experiences!
Save the Date: STAAR Testing Dates
We are preparing for our annual STAAR testing and we are looking forward to supporting our students in having a positive testing experience. Please see the reminders and testing dates listed below. We appreciate you partnering with us in supporting the students.
Reminder: Prior to testing
- Students are encouraged to remain focused on instruction. The diligence they put forth in class will support their academic growth and achievement in middle school and beyond.
- The night before testing all students are to plug in their laptops so they can be fully charged.
- We want all students to get a good night's rest.
Reminder: The Day of Testing
- Students are to report to school on time with their badges on.
- Doors open at 8:20 a.m. and by 8:50 a.m., all students are to be in class ready to receive testing instructions. Students who arrive after 8:50 a.m. are tardy. While reporting to school on time is important every day, it is especially important on testing days. A late arrival is unsettling for everyone. All students need to be able to start their day in the most positive way possible.
- Visitors are not allowed on campus on testing days
- We ask that lunch deliveries occur sparingly.
- Students are to remain in class for the entire day.
- We highly discourage early pickups on any day of school.
Reminder: After Testing
- Instruction is still taking place every day. There is a great deal of curriculum left to cover, and students are still receiving grades for the last nine weeks of school.
- Additionally, there are a number of end of year student engagement events that we do not want any of our students to miss out on.
- We are excited to support the students in enjoying a strong finish to their school year.

Parent Communication Regarding Fentanyl Awareness Instruction
There is a growing threat to the health and safety of our youth that we want to bring to your attention. Fentanyl poisoning is the leading cause of death for people ages 18 to 45 in the U.S. Fentanyl is a man-made, Schedule II narcotic that has reached a growing number of communities of all sizes across Texas and has impacted so many lives. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), within the last two years, teen overdose deaths related to Fentanyl have tripled.
On March 10-11, 2026, during Advisory classes, our students will participate in Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness lesson. The State of Texas (HB3908) requires school districts to annually provide to students in grades 6–12 research-based instruction on fentanyl abuse prevention and drug poisoning awareness.
The required instruction in fentanyl prevention and drug poisoning awareness must include the following:
Suicide prevention
Prevention of the abuse of and addiction to fentanyl; Awareness of local school and community resources and any processes involved in accessing those resources; Health education that includes information about substance use and abuse, including youth substance use and abuse
If you would like to view the lesson and learn more, please visit the FBISD Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Webpage. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s grade-level administrator.

Who Do I Call When I Need...?
- If you have a specific question about a grade, missing work, instruction, tutoring, reteach/retest, etc., we ask that you first reach out to that specific teacher to gain clarification and the most up to date and accurate information. Additionally, if you have a concern regarding SPED accommodations, reach out to the teacher and/or your child's SPED case manager. For 504 accommodations, contact your child's teacher and/or their grade level counselor. If there is no resolve after you have communicated/conferenced with the first points of contact...teacher, SPED case manager, or counselor, please reach out to your child's assistant principal.
- For any concerns about discipline or safety matters, or other issues like detentions, etc., contact your child's assistant principal.
- If there is a concern about your child's schedule, please reach out to the student's counselor as the first point of contact.
- For any athletic matters, contact your child's coach. Should there not be a resolution, contact the campus Athletic Coordinators.
- All attendance notes are emailed to AttendanceDCMS@fortbendisd.gov.
Teachers and staff will work diligently to respond to you within 48 business hours. While most staff will respond before then, we ask that you exhibit grace with requests emailed during the school day, as our expectation for our teachers is to provide bell to bell instruction and check emails before/after school, and during their conference period, when they are not in a meeting.

Student ID Badges
Students have received their ID badges, and they are required to wear them appropriately around their neck, for the entire instructional day. Badges are utilized on school buses, in the lunch line, library, etc.
Upon arrival, student ID badges are checked. Students who lose their badge, badge holder or lanyard, will be responsible for purchasing a new one. Students who repeatedly report to campus without their badge, will receive a consequence in accordance with the Code of Student Conduct. The Consequence could include but is not limited to detentions and suspensions.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe.
Game Day Expectations
The 2025-2026 Athletics season kicks off this month! As we continue to excel academically, and in the various areas of Fine Arts, we are also excited to see gains in the area of athletics too.
Just as during all sporting events, students are expected to adhere to the FBISD Code of Conduct. Adults observing gaming events, are also required to engage in appropriate, respectful and courteous behavior. While we are so thankful to the Crockett community for being supportive and kind during games, it is important for us to still make mention of this expectation.
We sincerely appreciate our school community (children & adults), for positively contributing to the wonderful athletic events we have experienced and look forward to having this school year.
Let's GO MAVS!
Student Laptops
As a district, we have been exceptionally fortunate to be able to ensure that all students at the secondary level receive a laptop. The laptop is only to be used for instructional purposes. Students are to bring their laptop to school each day, fully charged. This means that our Mavs must get into the routine of plugging their laptop up each night before going to bed.
Students are not to remove the protective case, and all parents are strongly encouraged to purchase laptop insurance. Click on the link below to learn more about:

In the March 6, 2026 newsletter, more information will be provided regarding ticket purchases. In order to attend or participate in the event, from February 17, 2026-March 13, 2026, students must meet the eligibility criteria below:

No assignments of In-School Suspension (ISS) or Out-of-School Suspension (OSS).
No outstanding fines or fees, including technology, library, ID, or other campus-related balances.
In addition to sharing this communication with the parents of our students via newsletter, students also receive the same information about eligibility requirements every day during morning announcements. The announcements began on February 17, 2026.
For the past few years, the DCMS staff has won the Wilcox Classic. Will the DCMS students take the champion title in 2026? We will all have to wait and see, but no matter who wins, ultimately...We all win! Let's go Mavs!
Please note: This is a DCMS student and staff event.
Congratulations! DCMS 2024-2025 Dream Box Success...and BEYOND!
Dream Box Math (K-8) is an engaging and adaptive math program that integrates curriculum and continuous formative assessment to personalize instruction, develop conceptual understanding, build critical skills, and improve achievement for every student, regardless of where they are in their learning journey.
Congratulations DCMS! Out of ALL FBISD middle schools, for the 2024-2025 school year, Crockett Middle School earned the 2nd place position for completing the highest number of Dream Box lessons per week. Magnificent work Mavs! We are focused on earning the #1 spot for the 2025-2026 school year. We've got this!
Parents, once the school year begins, teachers will share information about Dream Box that will support students in experiencing enhanced levels of growth and achievement in mathematics for the 2025-2026 school year. For our students who are well-versed with Dream Box, feel free to begin utilizing this meaningful resource as soon as possible.
No Place for Hate Distinction
Congratulations to DCMS for receiving their No Place for Hate distinction for the 2024-2025 school year. While this distinction has been earned each year, each time it is received is just as special as the first. Many thanks to the DCMS Counseling team for the work they do to support students and staff in achieving this acknowledgment!
Congratulations DCMS Counseling Team!
Your 2025 CREST AWARD Recipients
2024 ENERGY STAR Award
Congratulations to DCMS for being one of four middle schools in FBISD to receive the ENERGY STAR award. In recognition of superior energy performance, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded the ENERGY STAR to David Crockett Middle School. Great work Mavs!
Timely and Safe Arrival & Dismissal at DCMS
Our day begins at 8:50 a.m. and ends at 4:10 p.m.
As students transition through each period of the school day, they will be counted tardy if they are not in their designated class when the tardy bell rings. When students arrive late, they miss meaningful moments in the school day. This has negative impacts on their academic growth and achievement, and their SEL (social emotional learning) experience. They also incur consequences in accordance with the FBISD Student Code of Conduct. These consequences range from a verbal warning, a parent-teacher/admin conference, upwards to various detentions and/or suspensions. Please ensure that your child arrives on time, ready to learn, each day.
Parents who drop off and pick up students, are to use the car rider line. The line runs in front of the entrance of the school. Please do not drop off students in any parking lot. Additionally, do not drop them off along the curb, in the street, or in the surrounding neighborhoods. This is unsafe and you will get ticketed by FBISD police and/or Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
While in the car rider line, proceed legally and with care. You are in a school zone. Stay off your phone and please be attentive to all that is going on around you. This includes, but is not limited to, pulling all the way forward when you are motioned to and/or asked to do so. Our goal is to safely and efficiently get as many students as possible, transitioned out of/into their parent's car. Thank you for assisting us with this endeavor. Your support, respect and kindness are appreciated and needed more than you realize.
Early pickups are highly discouraged, as every second of learning counts. Please be sure to see the attached FBISD 2025-2026 Instructional Calendar, so that you can take advantage of trying to schedule necessary appointments on days we are not in school. For those moments, when you must understandably check out your child early, please do so by 3:30 p.m. or sooner. If you attempt to check your child out any later, it will take a greater amount of time to secure them, as we are concluding the day and preparing for various modes of p.m. dismissal.
Reminders for Excellence at DCMS
The message below is communicated to all students and staff daily, via morning announcements.
Reminders for Excellence at DCMS
Students, please adhere to the following reminders for excellence at DCMS:
Cellphones and earbuds are to be turned off and placed in backpacks, and ID badges are worn properly around our necks, once you enter the building. ID badges must be on and visible every day. Hoods, hats, bonnets, and bandanas are not worn in the building. In an effort to maintain the highest level of safety, students please walk in our hallways and do not run. Please be mindful of your volume in the hallway because some students are still in class learning during certain periods. Additionally, please be considerate of others and always use school-appropriate language in and around the building.
As you walk around our campus, be sure to pick up any trash you drop. Thank you for being a Magnificent Maverick by keeping our school looking great!
Mavs, we appreciate you for respecting each other, respecting our building, and most importantly respecting yourselves, your parents, and our faculty & staff every day. Remember that our three pillars for success at DCMS are: Care, Commitment & Trust! Let's exhibit CCT in the best way every day!
Have a great rest of the day & go Mavs!
College Shirt Day & DCMS Spirit Shirt Day Every Week!
Every Monday we encourage our students to join the DCMS faculty and staff to wear the college shirts of their choice. Represent the college you will attend or dream of attending. The future is near and its YOURS Mavs! We look forward to seeing you in your college shirt and hearing your "why".
Every Friday is our DCMS spirit day. Wear your Crockett gear and/or Crockett Green!
