Manvel HS-FREE SAT Diagnostic Test
We are offering a free SAT diagnostic test to local area students on the date/time listed below. Our diagnostic SAT test gives the students an early look at where they stand academically, helping them build confidence and create a focused plan moving forward. We’d love the opportunity to partner with your school and make this resource available to your student body.
Saturday, January 24th @ 3:30 PM
Sunday, January 25th @ 1 PM
Test duration is 2 hours and 14 minutes and will be held at the Huntington Learning Center-Pearland location.
Our diagnostic test report which is shared with the student/parents goes in detail in identifying the areas that students need to focus on to improve their scores. In addition, we take time with each individual student and advise them on free resources available to them that they can use to study for the SAT. Families are under no obligation to sign up for any Huntington services or pay any money for results. They will receive a complete score breakdown for free. The only cost is the student’s time. Rest assured, test scores are not reported and will not impact your college admission process.
Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop/tablet and a calculator. List of allowed calculators for SAT can be found here. If a student needs a laptop, please call the center and reserve one as soon as possible as quantities are limited.
Parents can register their students by using the attached QR codes OR via the links below:
If students/parents have any questions they can call the center at 281-485-3685 to speak with us directly or email us at PEARLANDTX@HLCMAIL.COM. We have only 37 spots available for each testing day and they tend to fill up quickly.

SHOUT OUTS
Congratulations Isaac & J'Rell
The Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) sponsors the Texas All-State audition process to recognize students’ dedication to musical excellence and to support educators in developing high-level musicianship. Each fall, more than 70,000 high school students across Texas audition at the TMEA Region level by performing selected music for a panel of judges. Top-ranked musicians advance to the TMEA Area auditions, where they compete with students from other Regions. The highest-scoring students at the Area level earn the opportunity to perform in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles representing the Band, Orchestra, and Vocal Divisions.
Please extend a heartfelt congratulations to Isaac Serrano for making the All State Band on the flute, and to J'Rell Anderson, who will be singing in the All State Tenor/Bass choir, making him a 3 year All Stater.
These two students will represent Manvel High School in the annual TMEA convention in San Antonio in February!

Parent Letter regarding the new McDonalds
Dear Manvel High School Families,
At Manvel High School, the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. We are asking families to help us reinforce the importance of students remaining on campus once they arrive in the morning.
With the opening of McDonald’s on Wednesday, 12/3, students were observed crossing Highway 6 to reach the restaurant, moving across the busy roadway in front of traffic. Students have also been seen walking along Highway 6 in the morning to visit Shipley’s Donuts. This presents a serious safety concern due to the heavy traffic and limited pedestrian access along this roadway. For the protection of all students, this practice must not occur.
As outlined in Alvin ISD policy, once students arrive on campus, they are required to remain on campus until dismissal. This policy is in place to ensure that students are supervised and safe throughout the school day. Leaving campus without authorization is not permitted.
We ask for your support in reinforcing this expectation with your student. Together, we can ensure that Manvel High School remains a safe environment where students can focus on learning and growth.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe.
Sincerely,
Jamie Baldwin
Manvel High School Principal

Beginning with the 2025–26 school year, parents must complete two forms in the Skyward Parent Portal:
- Health Notice and Consent Form
- Counseling Notice and Consent Form
Forms will be available beginning August 30, 2025, and must be submitted by September 12, 2025.
Please note: While parental consent is required for health and mental health services, certain legally required activities—such as behavioral threat assessments—require parental notification but do not allow an opt-out option under the law.
Senate Bill 12: Parental Consent for Club Participation
During the 89th Legislative Session, Senate Bill 12 was passed, requiring school districts to inform parents and guardians of their rights and to seek parental consent for students to participate in clubs.
Per SB 12: A school district or open-enrollment charter school must require the written consent of the parent of or person standing in parental relation to a student enrolled in the district or school before the student may participate in a student club.
Below is the Consent Form that must be completed for students to participate in clubs on campus.

Is your student on track to earn a CCMR Point?
As we look ahead to a successful 2025-26 school year, we want to make you aware of a new state law, House Bill 1481, which was passed by the Texas Legislature. House Bill 1481 prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the school day.
This law applies to:
- Cell phones
- Smartwatches
- Earbuds and headphones
- Tablets or any device that can text, call, record, or access the internet
In Alvin ISD, the expectation is simple: Not Seen. Not Heard. Not Taken.
Students may bring phones and personal electronic devices to school.
However, from the moment students enter the building in the morning until the final dismissal bell cell phones must be powered off or silenced, stored in a backpack or locker, and not used during class, passing periods, lunch, or restroom breaks.
Use in the Hallways
The use of personal communication devices in prohibited at all times.
Use at Lunch
Lunch is considered part of the school day so the use of electronic devices is prohibited under Texas Law.
Emergency Situations
Administrators may approve the use of cell phones in emergency situations where the device is necessary for the health or safety of students or others.
The Texas law requires school districts to administer disciplinary consequences if students violate the personal communication device policy in schools. Each infraction of this policy will result in the following escalating consequences:
- First offense – Device taken, returned to student
- Second – Parent must pick up
- Third – $15 fine + parent pickup
Refusal to hand over a device = disciplinary action per the Student Code of Conduct
Why this matters:
This law supports focused classrooms, respectful spaces, and safe learning for all.
Parents:
Please talk with your child about expectations before school starts. For emergencies, contact the campus office.
