Closing Out First Term

The end of the first term is right around the corner—Wednesday, October 15th. This is a great time for students to review their progress, complete any missing work, and finish the term on a positive note.

To support them, teachers are available each Wednesday morning from 8:15–9:15 a.m. for additional academic help. Families and students can work directly with teachers to schedule time during these sessions.

We also encourage students to check MyDSD regularly so they can keep track of grades and assignments.

WHY SHOULD YOUR STUDENT TAKE THE PSAT TEST?

• To help your student prepare for the ACT and/or SAT.

• To receive feedback on their strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college.

• To see how their performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.

• To enter the competition for scholarships for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

• To receive information from colleges.

Syracuse High School will be administering the test on Wednesday, October 22nd. The test will begin at approximately 7:30 AM and students will be finished before lunch. This is a school excused absence.

This test is for sophomores and juniors. The fee is $18 to be paid in the main office, and the last day to sign up for the test is Monday, October 10th, or until the spots are filled. There are a limited amount of tests, so please sign up soon. Once you are registered, we will provide a study guide. Room assignments will be posted the day before and morning of the test in the main office.

If you have any questions, please come and see your counselor before or after school, or during lunch.

Internships are a great way to learn more about possible careers! Applications need to be submitted before Oct 31.

Submission Guidelines:

We love showcasing our students! To ensure all content is appropriate for our school community, please keep the following in mind when submitting:

📸 Photos should highlight school-appropriate activities, and all students must follow the dress code.
📝 Text must be respectful, positive, and suitable for a school audience.
✅ All submissions will be reviewed. Content that doesn’t meet our standards may not be included.

Titan Time

On most Wednesdays, the Counseling Center will hold Titan Time from 2:30-4:30. This is held in the library. Students can do the following at Titan Time:

Access a computer
Make up a “U” (bring prepaid “U” makeup receipt)
Restore lost credit with Edgenuity or other homework
Take an online test
Earn elective credit (0.25 credits will be awarded for attending 18 complete Titan Time sessions.)

Math Tutoring

Free Math Tutoring. During Titan Time, Wednesdays 2:30-4:30. Room 2111. Come get some tutoring for your math classes! Starting August 27th in Ms. Christensen's classroom.

E-Vehicles

With an increase in youth riding e-bikes, scooters, and other motorized devices to school, we aim to help guardians understand the laws around these vehicles.
